Chicago White Sox OF Alex Rios said he is not happy that he only has one home run and six doubles this season and is trying to improve his hitting. "I'm not driving the ball the way I wanted, and I couldn't tell you why that's not happening," Rios said. "I've been concerned a little bit about my home runs and extra base hits. It's something I would like to improve. I'm not a big home run guy, but I can hit plenty of doubles in years before. Hopefully I get it sooner than later." Rios was working on hitting the ball up the middle and to the opposite field during spring training but may decide to go back to being a pull hitter.

Chicago White Sox OF Alex Rios is looking more comfortable at the plate and in right field lately. "He's been doing that for the last four or five days, staying in the middle of the field," manager Robin Ventura said. "He looks good at the plate, and he's covering a lot of different things. He's not just hitting fastballs but offspeed pitches, kind of doing everything. He's pulling the inside pitch and going the other way."

Chicago White Sox general manager Ken Williams said that manager Robin Ventura may revisit plans to play Dayan Viciedo in left field, Alejandro De Aza in center field and Alex Rios in right field because of Viciedo's shaky defense. "(Viciedo is) certainly more comfortable in right; that's obvious," Williams said. "He has to keep working. He's a kid we've moved around a bit from third to first to right to left. It's going to take him some time. We all saw he took to right field adeptly; it's something Robin and the coaches are talking about, and if he doesn't, we can make an adjustment." Viciedo has also struggled at the plate this spring, carrying a .121 average into play Saturday, March 24.
