Phillies | PHI still looking at Jeff Francoeur

Thu, 26 Nov 2015 23:53:57 -0800

Free-agent OF Jeff Francoeur (Phillies) is still being looked at by the Philadelphia Phillies for part-time duty in the outfield.

Fantasy Tip: Francoeur likely won't earn a full-time job with an organization unless it really needs help. He is the type of guy you would pick as a "handcuff" selection in a draft. In other words, if you pick a Phillies outfielder then you could select Francoeur in the likelihood of an injury. Otherwise Francoeur has little fantasy value.

Phillies | Jeff Francoeur batting fifth in Game 2

Sat, 03 Oct 2015 17:22:03 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies OF Jeff Francoeur is playing right field and batting fifth against Miami Marlins SP Justin Nicolino in Game 2 of a doubleheader Saturday, Oct. 3.

Fantasy Tip: Francouer ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) is hitting .308 at home this year, so he could be worth a flier as a source of cap relief at FantasyScore.

Phillies | Brian Bogusevic out of Sunday lineup

Sun, 27 Sep 2015 10:26:33 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies OF Brian Bogusevic is not starting Sunday, Sept. 27, against the Washington Nationals. OF Jeff Francoeur is in right field and hitting fifth against Nationals SP Gio Gonzalez.

Fantasy Tip: Bogusevic ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) bats left, so the presence of Gonzalez has him on the bench for today. Francoeur ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) is not worth the price, not with a .083 average in the last week.

Phillies | Still no Domonic Brown

Fri, 11 Sep 2015 10:54:18 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies OF Domonic Brown (concussion) remains out of the lineup for Game 1 of a doubleheader against the Chicago Cubs Friday, Sept. 11. OF Jeff Francoeur is starting in left field and is hitting cleanup against Chicago Cubs SP Jake Arrieta.

Fantasy Tip: Arrieta is having a Cy Young-caliber season this year, and he's not showing any signs of slowing down. Francoeur ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) isn't attractive because of that.

Phillies | Jeff Francoeur draws in at cleanup spot

Thu, 10 Sep 2015 13:45:13 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies OF Jeff Francoeur is starting in left field and batting fourth against Chicago Cubs SP Jake Arrieta Thursday, Sept. 10. OF Darnell Sweeney is not in the starting lineup Thursday.

Fantasy Tip: Sweeney ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) has been receiving the majority of starts in the outfield with Domonic Brown ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) out with a concussion. Francoeur ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) will face the difficult matchup Thursday, though, and he checks out as an ill-advised play at FantasyScore.

Phillies | Ryan Howard not in the lineup

Sun, 06 Sep 2015 09:56:17 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies 1B Ryan Howard is not in the starting lineup against Boston Red Sox SP Eduardo Rodriguez Sunday, Sept. 6. OF Jeff Francoeur will serve as the designated hitter and is hitting fourth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Howard ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) likely is sitting out because the team is facing a left-handed pitcher. Francoeur ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) has at least one hit in five of his last seven games and could a cheaper option on FantasyScore.

Phillies | Ryan Howard not in lineup Saturday

Sat, 05 Sep 2015 10:29:36 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies 1B Ryan Howard is not in the starting lineup against Boston Red Sox SP Wade Miley Saturday, Sept. 5. OF Jeff Francoeur will bat cleanup and serve as the designated hitter, while 1B/OF Darin Ruf will bat seventh and play first base.

Fantasy Tip: Howard ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) is out of the lineup because he has just one hit in his last 18-bats and is batting .135 against southpaws this season. Francoeur ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) is batting .329 with six homers and 17 RBIs since the All-Star break, while Ruf ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) is 4-for-10 with a home run and seven RBIs over the past week and is hitting .377 versus lefties.

Phillies | Jeff Francoeur draws into lineup

Thu, 27 Aug 2015 12:14:40 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies OF Jeff Francoeur is starting in right field and batting fourth against New York Mets SP Jon Niese Thursday, Aug. 27. OF Domonic Brown is not in the starting lineup Thursday.

Fantasy Tip: Francoeur ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) has been drawing in against lefties frequently of late but owns an underwhelming .664 OPS against them. In fact, he is better against righties. Still, Francoeur is a viable value play at FantasyScore Thursday. Make sure to avoid Brown Thursday. The streaky outfielder owns a .182/.262/.345 slash line in August, and you should likely be aiming higher in all fantasy formats.

Phillies | Jeff Francoeur remaining in Philly

Mon, 24 Aug 2015 14:44:04 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies OF Jeff Francoeur was recently claimed on waivers and then pulled back by Philadelphia. He cannot be traded in August.

Fantasy Tip: Francoeur ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) is having a respectable season with a .271 batting average and 12 home runs over just 265 plate appearances. He deserves attention at FantasyScore when in the lineup against favorable starting pitchers, too. Still, the 31-year-old veteran should be reserved for NL-only and cavernous mixed leagues in seasonal formats.
