The latest Kirby Puckett MLB and fantasy baseball news
Fri, 05 May 2006 22:11:31 -0700 Attorneys are trying to decide whether to give the cremated remains of former Minnesota Twins OF Kirby Puckett to his two children, or to divide them in another manner, perhaps involving his fiancee Jodi Olson, who was living with him when he died, according to the Associated Press. Puckett died in March 2006 in Scottsdale, Ariz., following a stroke, and his ashes have been kept at a Minneapolis funeral home in the meantime. Attorneys from both sides met Wednesday, May 3, but were unable to reach an agreement. Puckett's will, filed in late March, directed that his baseball memorabilia, insurance benefits, personal and household items and his "tangible personal property" go to his children. There was no written direction of what should happen with his ashes, according to attorneys, who were trying to figure out whether Minnesota or Arizona law applied to this issue. Bridget Logstrom, an attorney representing Puckett's children, said her interpretation of Arizona law suggests the ashes should go to the children, Puckett's primary beneficiaries. But if Minnesota law applies because Puckett was cremated there, his siblings would have authority to decide. Five of six siblings have given written consent for the ashes to go to the children.
