ESPN.com reports a woman who had accused Detroit Lions WR Scotty Anderson (ankle) of raping her now faces charges of lying to the police and falsifying a police report. Police concluded Tuesday, Nov. 25, that Nichole Dolores Milburn had not been raped by Anderson as she had originally charged. If convicted, Milburn could face up to four years in jail. Lions head coach Steve Mariucci called the entire episode "an unfortunate incident that is being dealt with properly." Anderson was placed on injured reserve last week with a severely sprained ankle.

The Lions will now have to sign another receiver. TE Mikhael Ricks was forced to act as a wide-out in Sunday's game because of a lack of available receivers.

"I was real proud of our effort and the way that we competed," said Lions coach Steve Mariucci. The team has seemed to gain self-confidence from the defeat. "This gives us a great uplift," WR Scotty Anderson said. "Even though we didn't win, we know we can play with anybody. There's no doubt. And to come here to Mile High and play these guys, who had a great win on Monday (against Oakland) - we had a great chance to win and we fought them to the end."

The Associated Press reports that a Lafayette (La.) woman has been sentenced to five years in prison for luring Detroit Lions WR Scotty Anderson to the Cajundome parking lot, where others laid in wait with guns to carjack the Lions receiver. Keaha M. Alexander, 22, was one of four people who pleaded guilty in the carjacking of Anderson in January 2002. The other defendants received sentences ranging from three to 12 years in prison, and all have been ordered to share in paying Anderson $42,426 in restitution for the stolen vehicle.

He sustained cuts to his shoulder but the wounds are not expected to prevent him from being able to play. Head coach Steve Mariucci said they’ll have to check his shoulder out a little bit and see what it looks like.

The Associated Press reports Detroit Lions WR Scotty Anderson and his brother, former NFL WR Stevie Anderson, were stabbed in the parking lot of a Houston nightclub early Monday morning, police said. Stevie was critically wounded and is being hospitalized. Scotty was also wounded, but his injuries didn’t appear to be life threatening, according to Houston police spokesman Alvin Wright.

"That is a probability unless something crazy happens," Mornhinweg said. "He and I have discussed these issues. He had that one big year in his second year. He has been hurt for two consecutive years. The key for him is getting both of those knees healthy and that will allow him to have the opportunity to get back and play at that high level."

The Associated Press reports the Pittsburgh Steelers dominated the Detroit Lions 20-7 earlier today. The Lions did not score until only 25 seconds remained in the game. Rookie QB Mike McMahon found WR Scotty Anderson on a 39-yard scoring pass for the Lions TD. Steelers QB Kordell Stewart was 12-of-15 for 135 yards before being lifted late in the second quarter. RB Jerome Bettis had a one-yard TD run and QB Tommy Maddox threw a 33-yard scoring pass to WR Demetrius Brown for the Steelers two TDs. Maddox was 11-of-17 for 144 yards. Lions QB Charlie Batch (8-of-17 for 96 yards) and McMahon (5-of-16, 78 yards) struggled during the game.

He'll have base salaries of $209,000 (2001), $298,000 (2002) and $389,000 (2003).

Geoff Hobson reports for the Bengals official site the team is looking for a Darnay Scott type WR at this week's Senior Bowl. They would like to find another size-speed guy who may be on the board in the second round of the NFL Draft. The team could also be intrigued by Michigan's David Terrell or North Carolina State's Koren Robinson with their #4 overall pick. Jim Lippincott, the team's director of pro/college personnel calls Terrell this year's Randy Moss. Many think the Bengals may also look at Texas OT Leonard Davis with the #4 pick. If they do WRs they may look at in round two include: Oregon State's Chad Johnson and Kansas State's Quincy Morgan. They also like Grambling's Scotty Anderson, but he may be available in round three.
