Mets | Jose Reyes receives injection

Wed, 27 Jul 2016 21:33:55 -0700

New York Mets SS Jose Reyes (rib cage) received an injection and treatment for his strained ribcage on his left side. Manager Terry Collins said Reyes is likely to be sidelined until at least Friday, July 29. As long as Reyes is sidelined, Collins said 2B Wilmer Flores will continue to fill in.

Fantasy Tip: Reyes should be reserved in all fantasy leagues until he can officially return and prove his health in at least a full game or two without any setbacks before trusting him again.

Mets | Jose Reyes to miss a few days

Wed, 27 Jul 2016 13:26:39 -0700

Updating a previous report, New York Mets 3B Jose Reyes (intercostal) is hopeful to only miss a few days because of his strained left intercostal. INF Wilmer Flores will start at third base in the meantime, according to manager Terry Collins.

Fantasy Tip: Seasonal owners should prepare to be without Reyes into the weekend and potentially longer. He is worth stashing in most settings during his absence. Flores has been scorching hot in July, and he should be owned and started in the majority of leagues until Reyes returns, and potentially longer.

Mets | No Jose Reyes vs. Cards

Wed, 27 Jul 2016 12:22:31 -0700

New York Mets 3B Jose Reyes (intercostal) is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, July 27. INF Wilmer Flores is starting at third base and batting sixth against St. Louis Cardinals SP Adam Wainwright Wednesday.

Fantasy Tip: While Flores has done most of his damage against southpaws this season (1.068 OPS), he's also sporting a .340/.382/.800 slash line in July. Flores should be owned in the majority of seasonal leagues at this point, especially with his positional versatility. Reyes is 16-for-67 (.239 batting average) to start his second tenure with the Mets, but he also has a .493 slugging percentage, so he remains a viable stash in all leagues while nursing the minor injury.

Fantasy Tip: Reyes should be reserved in all fantasy leagues which allow daily moves and avoided in DFS play until he can officially return and prove his health in a full game without any setbacks.

Mets | Three Mets players to sit out

Tue, 26 Jul 2016 16:48:59 -0700

New York Mets SS Jose Reyes, OF Curtis Granderson and OF Michael Conforto are not in the starting lineup for the second game of a doubleheader against the St. Louis Cardinals Tuesday, July 26. OF Juan Lagares will start in center field and is batting first in the lineup against Cardinals SP Jaime Garcia. SS Wilmer Flores will start at third base and is batting fourth, while OF Alejandro De Aza will start in right field and is batting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Lagares, Flores and De Aza have all struggled at the plate over the last seven days and should not be considered by owners in most mixed leagues.

Mets | Manager talks up Jose Reyes

Sun, 24 Jul 2016 16:38:24 -0700

New York Mets SS Jose Reyes is going to be a "dynamic leadoff hitter" once he has more at-bats, manager Terry Collins said Sunday, July 24.

Fantasy Tip: Reyes' bat is slowly coming alive, and he should be owned in most mixed leagues. He could develop into a useful contributor down the stretch.

Mets | Big night for Jose Reyes

Fri, 22 Jul 2016 20:27:02 -0700

New York Mets SS Jose Reyes recorded his first three-hit game of the season, finishing 3-for-5 with a double, an RBI, two runs scored and a steal in a 5-3 win over the Miami Marlins Friday, July 22.

Fantasy Tip: Reyes isn't the player he used to be, but as long as he is seeing regular at-bats, he is worth owning in most formats.

Mets | Jose Reyes blasts two homers

Sun, 10 Jul 2016 13:28:17 -0700

New York Mets SS Jose Reyes hit a pair of home runs Sunday, July 10, in a 3-2 loss to the Washington Nationals.

Fantasy Tip: It's not taking Reyes very long to put himself back into relevance in baseball, and it appears his bat is waking up. Reyes is worth playing in all formats because he will see regular time with the absence of 3B David Wright (neck).

Mets | Terry Collins talks lineup options

Wed, 06 Jul 2016 15:17:20 -0700

New York Mets INF Wilmer Flores and SS Jose Reyes are unlikely to start in the same game often, according to manager Terry Collins.

"Look, it's going to be hard to get both guys in there at the same time," Collins said Wednesday, July 6. "One of them is going to have to sit. But, yet, we've got a hot hitter sitting on the bench that we can run up in any big situation during the game when we have to have him. It's going to make us a different-looking club."

Fantasy Tip: Flores is likely to be the one losing playing time in this case, as Reyes stands to see the majority of starts at third base and is a must-own fantasy bat. However, there may be enough at-bats to go around for Flores to maintain value in deep mixed and NL-only leagues. He can start all over the infield, after all. It's a situation to monitor.

Mets | Jose Reyes hits a pair of doubles

Wed, 06 Jul 2016 15:08:56 -0700

New York Mets SS Jose Reyes went 2-for-4 with a run and two doubles during the Mets' 4-2 win over the Miami Marlins Wednesday, July 6.

Fantasy Tip: This is an encouraging sign for Reyes. He should be viewed as a viable starter at the 6 in the majority of seasonal leagues going forward and should prove especially valuable to teams chasing in the stolen base column.
