Mets | Manager talks up Jose Reyes

Sun, 24 Jul 2016 16:38:24 -0700

New York Mets SS Jose Reyes is going to be a "dynamic leadoff hitter" once he has more at-bats, manager Terry Collins said Sunday, July 24.

Fantasy Tip: Reyes' bat is slowly coming alive, and he should be owned in most mixed leagues. He could develop into a useful contributor down the stretch.

Mets | Big night for Jose Reyes

Fri, 22 Jul 2016 20:27:02 -0700

New York Mets SS Jose Reyes recorded his first three-hit game of the season, finishing 3-for-5 with a double, an RBI, two runs scored and a steal in a 5-3 win over the Miami Marlins Friday, July 22.

Fantasy Tip: Reyes isn't the player he used to be, but as long as he is seeing regular at-bats, he is worth owning in most formats.

Mets | Jose Reyes blasts two homers

Sun, 10 Jul 2016 13:28:17 -0700

New York Mets SS Jose Reyes hit a pair of home runs Sunday, July 10, in a 3-2 loss to the Washington Nationals.

Fantasy Tip: It's not taking Reyes very long to put himself back into relevance in baseball, and it appears his bat is waking up. Reyes is worth playing in all formats because he will see regular time with the absence of 3B David Wright (neck).

Mets | Terry Collins talks lineup options

Wed, 06 Jul 2016 15:17:20 -0700

New York Mets INF Wilmer Flores and SS Jose Reyes are unlikely to start in the same game often, according to manager Terry Collins.

"Look, it's going to be hard to get both guys in there at the same time," Collins said Wednesday, July 6. "One of them is going to have to sit. But, yet, we've got a hot hitter sitting on the bench that we can run up in any big situation during the game when we have to have him. It's going to make us a different-looking club."

Fantasy Tip: Flores is likely to be the one losing playing time in this case, as Reyes stands to see the majority of starts at third base and is a must-own fantasy bat. However, there may be enough at-bats to go around for Flores to maintain value in deep mixed and NL-only leagues. He can start all over the infield, after all. It's a situation to monitor.

Mets | Jose Reyes hits a pair of doubles

Wed, 06 Jul 2016 15:08:56 -0700

New York Mets SS Jose Reyes went 2-for-4 with a run and two doubles during the Mets' 4-2 win over the Miami Marlins Wednesday, July 6.

Fantasy Tip: This is an encouraging sign for Reyes. He should be viewed as a viable starter at the 6 in the majority of seasonal leagues going forward and should prove especially valuable to teams chasing in the stolen base column.

Mets | Jose Reyes hitless in return

Tue, 05 Jul 2016 22:12:39 -0700

New York Mets 3B Jose Reyes went hitless in four at-bats in his return to the major leagues Tuesday, July 5. It was his first big league game since Oct. 31 of last season. "People have to understand, when I was here, I was the guy who was stealing 60 bases," Reyes said. "... Now I'm 33. But I can still run a little bit. Last year in [116] games I stole 24 bases. That's good in [116] games. That's something I'm going to bring to this ballclub."

Fantasy Tip: Keep your expectations in check with Reyes, but his speed should make him valuable ion all fantasy formats while hitting at the top of the Mets' lineup. His return hurts Wilmer Flores, who will now effectively become a super utility player and occasionally see starts against lefties.

Mets | Jose Reyes in leadoff spot

Tue, 05 Jul 2016 13:52:42 -0700

New York Mets SS Jose Reyes is starting at third base and is hitting leadoff against Miami Marlins SP Wei-Yin Chen Tuesday, July 5.

Fantasy Tip: As expected, Reyes will set the table for the Mets and mostly play the hot corner. At 33 years old, he's lost a step or two, but he managed to hit .274 with seven home runs and 24 steals with the Rockies and Blue Jays last year. Speed is his main asset, as well as on-base skills, and Reyes should already be owned in all fantasy formats now.

Mets | Jose Reyes to be called up Tuesday

Mon, 04 Jul 2016 19:41:04 -0700

New York Mets SS Jose Reyes is expected to be called up Tuesday, July 5. He hit .176 during an 11-game minor league stint.

Fantasy Tip: Reyes is worth stashing based on past production alone, but don't count on him being a savior for your fantasy team.

Mets | Jose Reyes promotion timeline

Thu, 30 Jun 2016 13:59:38 -0700

New York Mets SS Jose Reyes will play three to six more games with Class AA Binghamton before being promoted to the majors, according to general manager Sandy Alderson.

Fantasy Tip: Reyes should be owned in all seasonal setups at this point given his stolen base upside. Just keep expectations in check, as he posted an unappealing .274/.310/.378 slash line last year while playing his home games at two great hitter's parks (Rogers Centre and Coors Field).

Mets | Jose Reyes hitless

Wed, 29 Jun 2016 06:35:38 -0700

New York Mets 3B Jose Reyes is 0-for-9 with Class AA Binghamton but said he'll let the team know when he feels comfortable at the plate and at third base. "My body feels perfect. I just need my timing, and some more action at third base," Reyes said.

Fantasy Tip: Reyes will probably need another week or two on the farm and could be a nice bonus to have for steals after the All-Star break.
