Miami Marlins 2B Omar Infante (elbow) is currently working his way through some mild soreness in his right elbow, and the pain is described as tendonitis. Infante felt some pain last month after lifting weights. However, he expects to be fully ready for spring training in a few weeks. His throwing arm felt fine while fielding grounders Thursday, Feb. 9.

Chicago Cubs SP Carlos Zambrano is expected to pitch in the Venezuelan Winter League this offseason after not having pitched since Aug. 12. Detroit Tigers RP Joel Zumaya, Florida Marlins 2B Omar Infante and Pittsburgh Pirates OF Jose Tabata will also play on the same team as Zambrano. It is unknown if Zambrano will return to the Cubs next season.

The Florida Marlins and 2B Omar Infante reached an agreement on a two-year contract extension Monday, Sept. 26. The deal is believed to be worth $8 million, according to a team source. Infante will take a physical Tuesday, Sept. 27, to finalize the deal.

The Florida Marlins have begun negotiations with 2B Omar Infante that would lock him up for at least another season. Infante has indicated that he wants to remain with the club. Sources say that there is still ground to be made if a multi-year deal is to be reached. Indications are that he will at least sign a one-year contract before the World Series.

Florida Marlins 2B Omar Infante (finger) is hopeful of returning from the DL when he is eligible Saturday, Aug. 20. He took 20 swings off a tee Wednesday, Aug. 10, and threw pain-free from 60 feet.
