Royals | Omar Infante sitting out

Sat, 06 Jun 2015 08:17:37 -0700

Kansas City Royals 2B Omar Infante is not in the starting lineup Saturday, June 6. 2B Christian Colon will take his place in the lineup and is batting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Infante ($2,700, 5.4% of cap) probably is receiving a day off and should return to the starting lineup soon. Colon ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) has not seen a lot of playing time over the past few weeks, and owners on FantasyScore may want to consider spending a little extra money for a better option.

Royals | Still no Omar Infante

Thu, 23 Apr 2015 14:06:50 -0700

Kansas City Royals 2B Omar Infante (hamstring, groin) remains out of the starting lineup against the Chicago White Sox Thursday, April 23. 2B Christian Colon is starting at the keystone and hitting ninth in the batting order against Chicago SP Chris Sale.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to avoid Infante in all fantasy formats Thursday, and don't expect much from Colon ($1,900, 3.8% of cap), either. Sale is a high-end pitcher who looks in midseason form through his first two starts of the season. Aim higher than Colon.

Royals | Omar Infante remains out Tuesday

Tue, 21 Apr 2015 15:43:50 -0700

Kansas City Royals 2B Omar Infante (hamstring, groin) remains out of the starting lineup Tuesday, April 21. 2B Christian Colon is starting at the keystone and hitting ninth in the batting order against Minnesota Twins SP Tommy Milone.

Fantasy Tip: Colon ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) has very little fantasy upside at the plate, especially at the bottom of KC's lineup. Milone is off to a strong start to the season, as well. It'd be wise to look elsewhere at second base at FantasyScore this evening.

Royals | Omar Infante expected to avoid DL

Mon, 20 Apr 2015 13:57:49 -0700

Updating a previous report, Kansas City Royals 2B Omar Infante (hamstring, groin) is not expected to require a stint on the disabled list, according to manager Ned Yost. Yost noted Infante could be available in an emergency Tuesday, April 21.

Fantasy Tip: Don't expect Infante to suit up for the game Tuesday, either. In the majority of seasonal leagues you can replace Infante with a healthy bat. Continue to check back for updates on when Infante will draw back into the lineup. Christian Colon ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) figures to see the majority of starts at the keystone, but he is a low-end option for FantasyScore players.

Royals | Omar Infante out vs. Twins

Mon, 20 Apr 2015 13:22:38 -0700

Kansas City Royals 2B Omar Infante (hamstring, groin) is not in the starting lineup Monday, April 20. 2B Christian Colon is starting at the keystone and hitting eighth in the batting order against Minnesota Twins SP Kyle Gibson.

Fantasy Tip: Colon ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) has two hits in 10 at-bats to begin the year, and he's not much of an offensive force for the Royals, especially hitting at the bottom of the order. He's a low-end second base option at FantasyScore with Infante injured.

Royals | Omar Infante injured

Sun, 19 Apr 2015 15:57:46 -0700

Kansas City Royals 2B Omar Infante (hamstring, groin) left the team's game Sunday, April 19, against the Oakland Athletics with what he thought was a hamstring or groin injury. Christian Colon took his place.

Fantasy Tip: Infante ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) should be monitored and left off of your lineup until he gets the all-clear to return.

Tigers | Yoenis Cespedes has career day

Sun, 19 Apr 2015 13:48:36 -0700

Detroit Tigers OF Yoenis Cespedes had a pair of home runs and six RBI against the Chicago White Sox on Sunday, April 19. It is a career high for Cespedes and the most RBI by a Tiger since Omar Infante in September 2013.

Fantasy Tip: Cespedes ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) appears to be adjusting beautifully to his surroundings in Detroit. It may have been just the pitching matchup (Jose Quintana), but he is definitely a great pickup at a lower salary with the threat of some power.

Royals | Omar Infante sitting against Twins

Thu, 16 Apr 2015 09:12:37 -0700

Kansas City Royals 2B Omar Infante is not in the starting lineup against the Minnesota Twins Thursday, April 16. 2B Christian Colon is starting at the keystone and hitting eighth in the batting order against Minnesota Twins SP Tommy Milone.

Fantasy Tip: Colon ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) has yet to have an at-bat in 2015. In just 16 at-bats in 2014 against lefties, Colon had six hits and three RBI (.375). With not many games to choose from today, he's not a bad option if you're looking to spend big elsewhere in your FantasyScore lineup.

Royals | Omar Infante considering surgery

Sat, 14 Mar 2015 14:03:31 -0700

Kansas City Royals 2B Omar Infante (elbow) is considering undergoing surgery on the bone spur in his right elbow, which has caused him pain and inflammation for more than two years. If he decides to go under the knife, he could be sidelined for six to 12 weeks.

Fantasy Tip: Infante would only opt to have surgery if cortisone shots prove to be ineffective. He received a shot last season and had another one last week. Infante's ability to remain healthy in previous years was one of his biggest assets, even if his stats were nothing to write home about. Right now, he projects as nothing more than roster depth in AL-only fantasy leagues.

Royals | Omar Infante heading for MRI

Fri, 06 Mar 2015 13:13:33 -0800

Kansas City Royals 2B Omar Infante (elbow) is heading for an MRI exam with continued soreness in his right elbow. He's been dealing with elbow issues since last year. He was supposed to start at designated hitter for the spring game Friday, March 6, but he instead will have tests on his arm. "It's not ligament. That leads you to believe that it's a spur in the back of the elbow that's inflamed," manager Ned Yost said. "Is an injection warranted to calm it down? Did a spur break off? We just don't know. We have to send him out for an MRI and see exactly what is causing the pain." Infante doesn't have pain when he hits, and he's been able to take grounders and full batting practice without issues.

Fantasy Tip: The 33-year-old Infante's greatest contribution to fantasy players is his consistent playing time, but even that might be in question if there is something seriously wrong with his elbow. Nothing about his profile stands out for fantasy categories. Consider him middle infield insurance in AL-only leagues.
