Detroit Tigers 3B Miguel Cabrera (back) said he was experiencing back discomfort Wednesday, May 8, but he stayed in the game and received treatment. Cabrera is in the lineup Thursday, May 9.

Fantasy Tip: This is the last thing fantasy owners want to hear about Miggy, but the issue looks to be very minor. It's worth watching, though, if it crops up again soon.

Detroit Tigers 3B Nick Castellanos will likely go to Double-A later in spring camp as the team makes its minor-league assignments. The team believes Castellanos needs dedicated work in the outfield, which is where he was forced to move last year when 3B Miguel Cabrera dropped anchor at Castellanos' natural position, third base.

Detroit Tigers RP Octavio Dotel said 3B Miguel Cabrera refused to agree to a team meeting after some tough playoff losses last season. Dotel said he suggested Cabrera hold a players' only meeting after a heart-wrenching loss in Game 4 of the ALDS and after losing the first two games of the World Series. "You have to step up and say something," Dotel said. "Miggy's more about his game. I don't see him as a leader."

Detroit Tigers manager Jim Leyland announced Tuesday, Feb. 19, that his regular infielders will start the Grapefruit League spring game Friday, Feb. 22, against the Atlanta Braves. That means 1B Prince Fielder, 2B Omar Infante, 3B Miguel Cabrera and SS Jhonny Peralta will comprise the infield, with C Brayan Pena behind the plate.
