Tigers | Four hits for Miguel Cabrera

Fri, 22 Jul 2016 21:28:39 -0700

Detroit Tigers 1B Miguel Cabrera tied a season high with four hits, finishing 4-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, a run scored and a walk in a 7-5 win over the Chicago White Sox Friday, July 22.

Fantasy Tip: Cabrera has his average back up to .300, and while he is no longer an elite option, he is a still a must-start in all formats.

Tigers | Miguel Cabrera hits homer

Thu, 21 Jul 2016 23:20:45 -0700

Detroit Tigers 1B Miguel Cabrera hit his 19th home run of the season Thursday, July 21, in a 2-1 win over the Chicago White Sox.

Fantasy Tip: Cabrera's bat hasn't slowed down, but his power did. This marked Cabrera's first home run since June 29. It's either feast or famine with Cabrera, meaning he'll either give you a single or a homer when at-bat. Still, that's good enough to give Cabrera a spot in any league from daily to annual.

Rangers | Adrian Beltre climbs homer ladder

Mon, 18 Jul 2016 23:55:46 -0700

Texas Rangers 3B Adrian Beltre hit his 426th career home run, tying him with Detroit Tigers 1B Miguel Cabrera and former Chicago Cubs player Billy Williams for 48th on the all-time list.

Fantasy Tip: Beltre continues wielding a decent bat, which makes him a good play in AL, mixed and daily leagues. He could be a legitimate threat for 500 home runs, depending on how much longer his career lasts.

Tigers | Miguel Cabrera gets the gate

Tue, 05 Jul 2016 18:49:26 -0700

Detroit Tigers 1B Miguel Cabrera was ejected from the game Tuesday, July 5, against the Cleveland Indians. It was his eighth career ejection. He believed he fouled a ball off his shin and he did not leave the batter's box, but the umpire didn't see it and called him out on a groundout.

Fantasy Tip: It's unclear if he will face further disciplinary action, but if he does he has plenty of video evidence to point to the fact he was correct in arguing. Stay tuned.

Tigers | Miguel Cabrera, Steven Moya starting

Sun, 03 Jul 2016 07:32:52 -0700

Detroit Tigers 1B Miguel Cabrera and OF Steven Moya are back in the starting lineup against Tampa Bay Rays SP Chris Archer Sunday, July 3. In addition, INF/OF Andrew Romine is batting ninth and starting in center field, with OF Cameron Maybin receiving the day off.

Fantasy Tip: Cabrera is 7-for-20 with two home runs and six RBI over the past week, while Moya is batting .324 with four homers in 34 at-bats since June 1. Both should be viewed as viable starting options in all fantasy formats. Romine is hitting just .185 through 54 at-bats and should be avoided everywhere.

Tigers | Miguel Cabrera on the bench

Sat, 02 Jul 2016 09:41:20 -0700

Detroit Tigers 1B Miguel Cabrera is not in the starting lineup against Tampa Bay Rays SP Blake Snell Saturday, July 2. C Jarrod Saltalamacchia will start at first base and is batting sixth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Saltalamacchia has six hits and three hits in his last six games but is hitting .209 this season and is not a strong fantasy option.

Tigers | Miguel Cabrera blasts 17th home run

Tue, 28 Jun 2016 21:11:51 -0700

Detroit Tigers 1B Miguel Cabrera clubbed a three-run homer as part of a seven-run fifth inning against the Miami Marlins on Tuesday, June 28.

Fantasy Tip: Cabrera has been in a bit of a slump for about a week after lighting it up the previous week, although he does have five home runs in the second half of this month after not hitting any over the first 15 days of the month. The 2013 AL MVP is just a homer shy of tying his total from last year's injury-plagued campaign and it seems like a good bet his average, which stands at .295 at the moment, will crawl back over .300 again in no time.

Tigers | Four-hit effort for Miguel Cabrera

Tue, 14 Jun 2016 21:30:47 -0700

Detroit Tigers 1B Miguel Cabrera tied a season high with four hits, including an RBI single, and scored twice in an 11-8 win over the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday, June 14.

Fantasy Tip: Since becoming the fifth-youngest player in major-league history to reach 2,400 hits on Sunday, Cabrera is 7-for-14 and has scored five times. The run-scoring single was his first RBI in exactly a week, but owners shouldn't fret about that; he's going to get plenty of chances to knock in more runs if the Tigers keep hitting like they are now. Keep Cabrera firmly locked into lineups in all leagues.

Tigers | Miguel Cabrera expected to play Saturday

Fri, 03 Jun 2016 21:57:03 -0700

Updating a previous report, Detroit Tigers 1B Miguel Cabrera (back) is expected to be in the lineup on Saturday, June 4. Manager Brad Ausmus said after the team's 5-2 win, "He thinks he'll be fine tomorrow but we'll wait and see in the morning." Cabrera left Friday's game in the seventh inning due to tightness in his back.

Fantasy Tip: Cabrera owners can breathe a sigh of relief as it appears the two-time MVP has avoided significant injury. Still, given that Ausmus stopped short of saying Cabrera would play on Saturday you should check back tomorrow to make sure he's in the starting lineup.
