Mike O'Hara reports for the Detroit News Detroit Lions Coach Marty Mornhinweg's agenda for this weekend's mini-camp has three steps. "The great value, especially with us, a new staff, is learning the scheme, offense and defense," Mornhinweg said Thursday. "Secondly, learn how we practice. Third, becoming acquainted with the coaches, with the new administration, with the new environment." Practices are in helmets and shorts, but no pads. CB Bryant Westbrook who is recovering from a ruptured left Achilles' tendon is expected to join his teammates, but he has not even started running yet. WR Brian Stablein remains unsigned, but he has signed a waiver and will take part in camp.

The Oakland Tribune reports Detroit Lions S Kurt Schulz (ankle) dressed for practice on Friday but didn't participate. As previously reported, he's still not 100% and will be a gametime decision this weekend. WR Brian Stablein (knee) remains questionable.

Detroit Lions head coach Gary Moeller, during his Monday press conference, stated S Ron Rice (foot) has some swelling in his foot and is day-to-day. S Kurt Schulz (ankle) may see more work in practice this week but his status remains uncertain. DB Marquis Walker (wrist) and DB Corwin Brown (knee) won't play this weekend. CB Lamar Campbell (ankle) is sore and WR Brian Stablein (knee) may be ready to return.

Detroit Lions head coach Gary Moeller, during his Friday press conference, stated WR Germane Crowell (foot) didn't see much action on Friday and his playing time will depend on how well he feels this weekend. QB Charlie Batch (ribs) practiced again and will start this weekend. S Ron Rice (quadriceps) got some snaps and is expected to play. CB Lamar Campbell will start at cornerback, CB Darnell Walker will be the nickel back and J.B. Brown will play in dime packages. S Kurt Schulz (ankle), WR Brian Stablein (knee) and DB Marquis Walker (wrist) won't play this weekend. OL Barrett Brooks will start at right tackle.
