He practiced with the first team during team drills on Friday. He was backed up by fifth-round draft pick Chris Barnes as the team began preparations for Monday’s game against Philadelphia. The team is expected to sign a free agent running back. Among the veterans expected for private workouts this afternoon are Terry Allen, Chris Warren, Greg Hill and Robert Chancey.
Thu, 09 Aug 2001 20:45:14 -0700 Updating previous reports, Don Banks reports for CNN/SI the Baltimore Ravens will bring in free agent RBs Chris Warren and Greg Hill for workouts on Friday as the team attempts to replace Jamal Lewis. Earlier reports had Terry Allen and Robert Chancey visiting as well. The also team talked with the agent for RB Errict Rhett on Thursday, and while he isn't expected to work out with Baltimore, he may in the next day or so take a physical and possibly sign. Adrian Murrell is another name lurking in the background.
Mon, 16 Jul 2001 22:23:54 -0700 The Washington Post reports the Washington Redskins plan to add at least one veteran backup RB before training camp Coach Marty Schottenheimer said Monday. The team has worked out free agents Greg Hill, Byron Hanspard and Robert Chancey as prospective backups to Stephen Davis. They also have considered signing NFL Europe standout Madre Hill. Schottenheimer added recently signed kickoff returner Michael Bates could be used as a third-down receiver out of the backfield.

They're also interested in Byron Hanspard, who worked out with the team this week. Neither Hill or Hanspard played in the NFL last year. Free agent RB Robert Chancey (Chargers) and RB Michael Bates (Panthers) are scheduled to visit with the team.

The coach said the team will consider free agent RB Jonathan Linton as a possible backup for RB Stephen Davis.

RB Greg Hill, OG Jay Leeuwenburg or a veteran middle linebacker all remain options that the team may elect to pursue. There's still speculation the team may add another quarterback, but they appear to be leaning away from that right now.
