The Boston Globe reports that the team decided not to sign either QBs Billy Joe Tolliver or Eric Zeier. The team will go with WR Bert Emanuel as it's third string QB. Emanuel was a QB at Rice. NT Jace Sayler (knee) has had a knee problem for a while and is the back up to Richard Seymour (leg) who has a leg injury. If C Damien Woody (neck) can't play, look for Grey Ruegamer to play in his place.

Jay Glazer reports for SportsLine.com the New England Patriots also brought in free agent QB Billy Joe Tolliver on Tuesday night for a workout. As reported, the team also brought in former Falcons QB Eric Zeier. Both QBs are in New England this morning.

Packers.com reports on the same day the team was officially awarded QB Michael Bishop off waivers from New England, the team waived veteran QB Billy Joe Tolliver. The team also acquired DL Giradie Mercer off waivers from the Patriots. TE Troy Drayton was also waived. DT Matt Keneley, waived injured August 19, has been placed on injured reserve.

The Press-Gazette reports QB Doug Pederson is clearly winning the battle for the No. 2 quarterback spot in Green Bay during practice but the team still plans to let QB Billy Joe Tolliver run with the second-string offense on Monday night.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel's Michael Cunningham reports the Green Bay Packers gave QB Brett Favre the day off today. Favre rested his arm for the first time in nine days of training camp. Backups Doug Pederson, Billy Joe Tolliver and Henry Burriss took all the snaps in the morning and afternoon practices. Favre said he was in agreement with the plan, designed to help him avoid the elbow problems that plagued him early last season.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports the QB rotation for Saturday night's scrimmage for the Green Bay Packers was Brett Favre, followed by Doug Pederson and then Billy Joe Tolliver. Henry Burris, the CFL import, did not play. Favre was sharp, completing seven of eight passes for 91 yards, in the full-contact portion of the scrimmage.

The Green Bay News-Chronicle reports Green Bay Packers QB Billy Joe Tolliver’s contract is for one year and will pay him the minimum salary of $477,000. Tolliver is expected to battle with Doug Pederson for the back up job to Brett Favre.

The Green Bay News-Chronicle, citing ESPN's John Clayton, reports the Green Bay Packers may be interested in signing free agent QB Billy Joe Tolliver, who was recently released by the Chicago Bears. Calls from the Chronicle to the Packers and Tolliver on Thursday were unanswered.
