Colorado Rockies SS Troy Tulowitzki (leg) took a foul ball hit by OF teammate Dexter Fowler off the left leg Monday, May 14, against the San Francisco Giants. After being examined by athletic trainer Keith Dugger, Tulowitzki stayed in the game and took his at-bat. He reached on an infield single against Giants RP Javier Lopez but hobbled to the base in pain. Manager Jim Tracy and Dugger hustled out to first and Tulowitzki was lifted for pinch-runner Chris Nelson. X-rays taken later were negative.

San Francisco Giants RP Santiago Casilla faced one batter, and he allowed a hit and an earned run Friday, April 20, against the New York Mets. RP Javier Lopez followed and allowed a hit and a walk while retiring just one batter to blow his second save. It ended a 12-inning scoreless streak by the bullpen.

Updating a previous item, the San Francisco Giants avoided arbitration with RP Javier Lopez Thursday, Jan. 20, by agreeing to a one-year, $2.375 million deal, according to The Associated Press. He can make an extra $50,000 each for pitching 55 or 60 innings.

The San Francisco Giants avoided arbitration with RP Javier Lopez Thursday, Jan. 20, by agreeing to a one-year deal, according to MLB.com's Chris Haft. Lopez is likely to receive a salary close to the midpoint of the proposals he and the team exchanged. Lopez was asking for $2.875 million and the team countered with $2 million.
