NFL | Braxton pleads guilty to drug charges

The Associated Press reports former NFL SS Tyrone Braxton pleaded guilty to cocaine and marijuana possession Wednesday, Jan. 24, but was able to avoid jail time. An Arapahoe County district judge ordered Braxton to complete a drug-alcohol evaluation and complete any recommended treatment. He was also ordered to perform 48 hours of public service and could face a fine. Prosecutors dropped a charge of patronizing a prostitute.

Broncos | Looking for Help at Safety

The Rocky Mountain News reports the Denver Broncos have plans of looking for a safety and defensive line help via free agency this year. Darrius Johnson will replace Tyrone Braxton in the secondary. As reported before, Braxton has decided to retire.

Associated Press reports that Denver Broncos S Tyrone Braxton has lost his hunger for the sport and will retire at the end of this season. " It's been building for a while, for the last three or four weeks, " Braxton said on Wednesday. " I can't get fired up for a game. I wasn't hungry. My heart's not in it. It's just not fun for me anymore. As an athlete, you know when you don't have the fire, the desire, the hunger to keep going out there and battling all the time. You just know you don't have it, and I knew it a couple or three weeks ago."

The Denver Post reports the Broncos are expecting a solid competition for the starting strong safety position this year. Darrius Johnson, Tyrone Braxton, and George Coghill are all going to battle for the starting position.

Broncos S Tyrone Braxton has been cleared of charges that he exposed himself to four women in a nightclub last year. He was awarded $2 from each of the four women in damages for a total of an $8 settlement. "It feels great," Braxton said. "These allegations were horrible. It feels great to be completely vindicated."

According to Kamon Simpson of The Gazette, it appears that LB Seth Joyner, DE Neil Smith, and CB Darien Gordon are expected to be on the Denver Broncos unprotected list. There's a possibility that either, or both, S Steve Atwater and/or S Tyrone Braxton could also be due to the possibility of both of them retiring.
