Ed Werder, of ESPN.com, reports suspended Dallas Cowboys quarterbacks coach Wade Wilson intends to write a letter to the National Football League office seeking an explanation for what he considers inconsistent enforcement of NFL policy following the punishment handed down to New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick. Wilson might attempt to determine whether he can appeal his five-game suspension for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing drugs. "I would say there is definitely a double standard being applied here," Wilson said. "I don't want to be seen as a crybaby or as someone questioning the commissioner's decision, but I see some major inconsistencies here. To me, they're holding the organization accountable instead of the person." "I did something wrong, but I did it only to benefit myself, not to gain a competitive advantage," Wilson added.

The Dallas Cowboys announced assistant coach Wade Wilson has been notified that he is suspended for the team's first five regular-season games and fined $100,000 for violating the NFL policy on performance enhancing drugs, according to an NFL spokesperson. Wilson has acknowledged purchasing and using such prohibited substances. Evidence supports his statements that he used the substances for personal use only, did not distribute the substances to other people, and has stopped using those substances. He is eligible to be reinstated Oct. 9.

Wilson admitted to receiving human growth hormone and anabolic steroids while coaching with the Bears. Wilson faces a yet-to-be-announced punishment.

First, the team would like Orton to improve his accuracy, where he finished the 2005 season at 51.6 percent. Both believe that was a result of footwork and feel a smoother separation from the center will fix that. The team will also work on his touch with passes. Orton has a tendency to drive too many passes, according to Wilson.

"He played in a passing offense in college and he has an extremely strong arm, so there's a lot of material there to work with," Wilson said. "Some things that he does need to improve on are making quick decisions and working on his footwork while dropping back because he was in the shotgun formation a lot in college."

As previously noted, he already spoke to former Dallas Cowboys QBs coach Wade Wilson. Wilson is not believed to be a serious candidate at the moment. There was an erroneous report Fassel offered the job to Norm Chow, the veteran assistant who is currently with USC.

The Sun Times reports the Chicago Bears are reportedly considering adding a QBs coach to their staff. GM Jerry Angelo said he has talked to coach Dick Jauron about creating a new position on the coaching staff, but no decision has been made. The Bears have not had a QBs coach since John Shoop was promoted to offensive coordinator late in the 2000 season. Candidates whom the Bears might consider include two recently fired in coaching-staff changes: the Jacksonville Jaguars' John Hufnagel and the Dallas Cowboys' Wade Wilson.

Ray Buck reports for the Star-Telegram QB Anthony Wright has been the Dallas Cowboys best QB after two days of two-a-days at Valley Ranch. QBs Tony Banks and Quincy Carter have overthrown, underthrown and sometimes failed to connect with receivers who have had problems of their own. The advantage Wright holds over Banks and Carter is his knowledge of the team's offensive system. "Anthony is working his tail off, not backing down from the competition," Cowboys quarterbacks coach Wade Wilson said. So far at mini-camp, Banks is progressing, Carter is learning and Wright is trying to keep his foot in the door.

ESPN just reported the Raiders have signed Free Agent QB Rich Gannon of the Chiefs. ESPN's John Clayton reports the deal is four-years for $16 million. He also reports that Gannon is expected to be the starter and they also re-signed Wade Wilson to be their backup QB.

There is speculation surrounding the Raiders and QB Warren Moon going to Oakland but Moon's agent Leigh Steinberg says the Raiders have not contacted him regarding Moon. He also represents Free Agent QB Jeff George and he also said that "they are interested in re-signing QB Wade Wilson, though," Steinberg said, referring to another client who started two games for Oakland at the end of last season.
