Dolphins | Players host fishing clinic

MiamiDolphins.com reports Miami Dolphins players hosted a fishing clinic for the Boys and Girls Club. FS Jason Allen, QB John Beck, WR Greg Camarillo, LB Channing Crowder, DL Junior Glymph, TE Aaron Halterman, OG Justin Smiley and former WR O.J. McDuffie were all in attendance at the fishing clinic. The clinic is a part of the 12th annual Miami Dolphins Fishing Tournament to benefit the Miami Dolphins Foundation.

Dolphins | Wannstedt Deposed In McDuffie Lawsuit

Alex Marvez, of the Sun-Sentinel, reports Miami Dolphins head coach Dave Wannstedt was deposed Wednesday, June 23, in the malpractice and gross negligence case of former Dolphins WR O.J. McDuffie, attorney Herman Russomanno said. McDuffie is suing former Dolphins team doctor John Uribe, current orthopedic consultants Dan Kanell and George Caldwell, foot specialist Robert Mills, radiologist Michael Thorpe, HealthSouth Doctors Hospital and Holy Cross Hospital. The lawsuit revolves around a left big toe injury suffered in November 1999, that eventually ended McDuffie's career.

Chris Perkins reports for the Sun Sentinel discovery papers are expected to be served to the Miami Dolphins in the WR O.J. McDuffie case. McDuffie's attorney said after the papers are served the Dolphins will have 20 days to either file a dismissal motion or a responsive pleading. "He had a multimillion- dollar contract that was forfeited," attorney Herman Russomanno said, adding McDuffie also lost potential endorsements and will seek compensation for pain and suffering, mental anguish and his ability to enjoy life.

Dolphins | McDuffie Suit Finally Filed

The Miami Herald reports former Miami Dolphins WR O.J. McDuffie filed a complaint in a Miami court on Friday accusing former and current team physicians of malpractice and gross negligence in the treatment of McDuffie's 1999 left big toe injury. The suit could eventually include other current and former members of the Dolphins staff, such as former coach Jimmy Johnson.

Updating previous reports, Associated Press reports former Dolphins WR O.J. McDuffie (toe) still plans to sue the Miami Dolphins over the way he believes his toe injury was treated. McDuffie said he wants to make sure no other players are treated the same way by the Dolphins. He says the team lied to him about how serious his toe injury was and it became worse when he played on it. McDuffie said he knew he'd be playing hurt but didn't know he'd be ending his career because of it.

Updating previous reports, the Miami Herald reports former Miami Dolphins WR O.J. McDuffie, who was released on Thursday, has a pending legal action against the Dolphins based on the allegation of medical malpractice concerning his toe injury back in 1999.

According to the Miami Herald, Miami Dolphins WR O.J. McDuffie restructured his contract with the team and saved the Dolphins $2.85 million against the 2002 salary cap. The new deal is an incentive-laden contract and puts McDuffie's retirement on hold.
