The Philadelphia Eagles could name their defensive coordinator soon. Philadelphia is interested in Baltimore Ravens linebackers coach Ted Monachino, but the Ravens could block Monachino from leaving. The Eagles also interviewed Browns linebackers coach Billy Davis last week.

The Philadelphia Eagles interviewed Cleveland Browns linebackers coach Billy Davis for their defensive coordinator job Monday, Jan. 28. Davis was previously the defensive coordinator for the San Francisco 49ers and Arizona Cardinals.

Raiders.com reports the team has signed free agent WR Billy Davis. He played for the Dallas Cowboys (1995-98) and Baltimore Ravens (1999-2000). He was out of football in 2001.

With an open spot on their roster, the Post Dispatch reports the St. Louis Rams had a bunch of street free agents in for a visit Monday. The list: safeties Percy Ellsworth and Tony George, CB Thomas Smith, LBs Michael Hawkes and Lonnie Marts and WRs Billy Davis and Keith Poole.

Chicago Bears.com reports the team has now released WR Billy Davis, DT Buck Gurley and DE Uhuru Hamiter. Gurley (signed Friday), Davis (Thursday) and Hamiter (Monday) were all waived less than a week after joining the Bears.

The Chicago Tribune reports the Chicago Bears signed free agent WR Billy Davis (Ravens) today. They hope is he will fill the hole on special teams created when Frankie Smith was lost for the season with a broken shoulder blade last week. "When we lost Frankie we thought it was definitely worth a look," coach Dick Jauron said. "So that's why Billy is here. He was a special-teams player on that level."

The Baltimore Sun reports the Baltimore Ravens have now turned their attention to re-signing LB Jamie Sharper. Both sides said there has been some progress in negotiations, but coach Brian Billick said no agreement is imminent. Sharper's agent, Tony Agnone, has talked with the Seattle Seahawks and Miami Dolphins where is has visited too. Sharper has received a reportedly "attractive" offer from the Seahawks, but they would expect him to shift to the inside and he's always been an outside LB. The Dolphins don't appear to have the cap room to make a serious run at Sharper. Billick said again the team wants to re-sign WR Billy Davis, DL Keith Washington and DB Robert Bailey, but the cap space is not there right now. The team said they have no visit planned with free agent LB Levon Kirkland.

As an update to previous reports, the Baltimore Ravens official website reports the Ravens have released WR Billy Davis and rescinded their offer sheet to TE Pedro Edison, making them both unrestricted free agents. The team would like to re-sign Davis, Edison, CB Robert Bailey and DE Keith Washington before the start of the season. As previously reported, the latter two were released earlier.
