The only two "outsiders" to join the starting lineup are OT Leon Searcy and QB Elvis Grbac. Herring has visited the Seattle Seahawks and the St. Louis Rams and although the Rams liked him, they may not be able to afford him. The Ravens remain confident that they will re-sign S Rod Woodson. Newsome is still in negotiations with Woodson's agent Eugene Parker.

Ravens | Team Notes

Mon, 26 Feb 2001 01:29:09 -0800

The Sporting News' Mike Preston reports the Baltimore Ravens are expected to push to re-sign LB Cornell Brown. The team does not want to lose Brown and LB Jamie Sharper via free agency. Brown could replace Sharper as a starter if Sharper leaves. If the Ravens can't get Brown, they might look at Redskins free agent LB Derek Smith. S Kim Herring could leave as a free agent and if he does look for Corey Harris to take over his role. Look for RB Priest Holmes to leave as a free agent as he seeks a starter's job with another team. TE Ben Coates could be on his way out via the free agent route as well.
