The Indianapolis Star reports the Indianapolis Colts have signed free agent QB Jim Druckenmiller. "Druck is all fired up," Gary Wichard, Druckenmiller's agent, said Wednesday. "He's looking forward to getting back in the saddle again." Team president Bill Polian said Wednesday the team put Druckenmiller through a workout during the season, but held off signing him until recently. He has not been with an NFL team the past three years.

The Washington Post reports the Washington Redskins held tryouts for eight other players earlier today, in addition to the previously reported QBs Jim Druckenmiller, Ron Powlus and John Turman. The others were QBs Scott Dreisbach and Jason McKinley, WRs Rico Cannon, Kevin Coffey, Anthony Collins, Henry Douglas and Dwaune Jones (Richmond), and FS Nick Sorenson. None have been signed, at this point in time.

ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli reports the Washington Redskins worked out free agent QBs Jim Druckenmiller, Ron Powlus and John Turman. A Redskins source said that Druckenmiller had an impressive workout, but the team did not offer him a contract but hinted they'd be in contact with him.

As an update to previous reports, the Topeka Capital Journal reports the Kansas City Chiefs are looking at QB Jim Druckenmiller, who just worked out with the team yesterday, as a candidate for a backup role with the team. As reported, the team also plans to meet with veteran QB Bubby Brister (Vikings) later this week.

As an update to a previous story, the Kansas City Star reports XFL QB Jim Druckenmiller stopped by for a workout with the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday. XFL QB Tommy Maddox may come for a visit next week, after his Los Angeles team plays in this weekend's league championship game.

The Kansas City Star reports the next QB to visit the Kansas City Chiefs, on what seems to be an endless list of visitors, is free agent QB Bubby Brister (Vikings). He is due in town next week. Also, a workout for XFL QB Jim Druckenmiller remained a possibility. In other news, the Chiefs were preparing an offer sheet for Rams restricted free agent WR Tony Horne. He has until Monday to sign an offer sheet with the Chiefs. If he signs an offer sheet and the Rams don't match, the Chiefs owe the Rams no compensation. Horne would fill the Chiefs need for a kick-return specialist.

Len Pasquarelli of SportsLine.com reports the Kansas City Chiefs are tentatively scheduled to meet with former San Francisco 49ers QB Jim Druckenmiller and could soon reach a contract agreement with the three-year veteran, who just completed the XFL season. The Chiefs are still pursuing a trade with the Rams for QB Trent Green, but no deal is imminent.
