Nationals | Jayson Werth takes a seat

Sat, 22 Aug 2015 13:36:14 -0700

Washington Nationals OF Jayson Werth is out of the lineup Saturday, Aug. 22, with 3B Anthony Rendon hitting leadoff.

Fantasy Tip: Rendon ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) is one of the best players in fantasy baseball, but his season has never had a chance to get on track due to injuries. He's hitting .188 this month and isn't a good play against Taylor Jungmann on FantasyScore.

Nationals | Jayson Werth leading off again

Wed, 19 Aug 2015 15:55:24 -0700

Washington Nationals OF Jayson Werth is leading off against Colorado Rockies SP Jorge De La Rosa Wednesday, Aug. 19.

Fantasy Tip: Werth ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) went 2-for-5 with three runs and a double in the leadoff sport Tuesday, Aug. 18, and with Washington scoring 15 runs in the game, it isn't shocking to see him setting the table again Wednesday. At Coors Field, he is very much a worthy FantasyScore target again Wednesday.

Nationals | Jayson Werth leading off

Tue, 18 Aug 2015 14:41:04 -0700

Washington Nationals OF Jayson Werth is leading off against Colorado Rockies SP David Hale Tuesday, Aug. 18.

Fantasy Tip: It isn't a significant boost to Werth's ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) value at FantasyScore Tuesday, but he may receive an extra at-bat in the game. He presents nice value and should be on your radar with the game being played at hitter's-haven Coors Field. Just note, Werth is mired in a 9-for-62 drought with just seven runs, one home run and six RBI over his past 69 at-bats.

Nationals | Jayson Werth not playing

Fri, 14 Aug 2015 16:14:24 -0700

Washington Nationals OF Jayson Werth is not in the starting lineup Friday, Aug. 14. 1B Clint Robinson is starting in left field and hitting fifth against San Francisco Giants SP Matt Cain.

Fantasy Tip: Robinson ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) has power upside but has been inconsistent at the plate in a reserve role. He's also hitting a very strong pitcher-friendly environment tonight, but is facing a pitcher that has been wildly mediocre since his return from the DL. Robinson certainly could be a nice value pick tonight.

Sat, 08 Aug 2015 14:06:31 -0700

Washington Nationals OF Jayson Werth is out of the lineup Saturday, Aug. 8, with OF Clint Robinson hitting fifth.

Fantasy Tip: Robinson ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) has a decent matchup against Eddie Butler, but he has hit just .183 this month and .243 against righties this year. Pass on FantasyScore.

Washington Nationals OF Jayson Werth is not in the starting lineup against Arizona Diamondbacks SP Zach Godley. 1B Clint Robinson will start in left field and is batting fifth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Werth ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) likely is receiving a day off and should return soon. Robinson ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) recorded a .265 batting average with five RBI in July and could be a cheaper option for owners on FantasyScore to consider.

Nationals | Jayson Werth resting

Thu, 30 Jul 2015 07:41:19 -0700

Washington Nationals OF Jayson Werth is sitting out Thursday, July 30, with 1B Clint Robinson hitting cleanup.

Fantasy Tip: Robinson ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) has a meager .277-1-5 line this year, but he's at a cheap price for a cleanup hitter on FantasyScore.

Washington Nationals OF Jayson Werth (wrist) will start in left field against Miami Marlins SP Jose Fernandez Tuesday, July 28, and is batting third in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Werth ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) will be playing for the first time since May 15th, so it may take him some time to return to his pre-injury form. Owners may want to wait a few games before using him on FantasyScore.

Nationals | Jayson Werth, Ryan Zimmerman return

Tue, 28 Jul 2015 14:57:56 -0700

Washington Nationals 1B Ryan Zimmerman (foot) and OF Jayson Werth (wrist) were activated from the 15-day disabled list Tuesday, July 28. The team also optioned OF Matt den Dekker to Class AAA Syracuse and outrighted 2B Emmanuel Burriss to Class AAA Syracuse.

Fantasy Tip: Zimmerman ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) and Werth ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) return from lengthy absences and could receive more days off initially since they are returning from injuries. Owners on FantasyScore may want to see them play in a game or two before using them in their lineup.

Nationals | Jayson Werth to return Tuesday

Mon, 27 Jul 2015 16:50:39 -0700

Washington Nationals OF Jayson Werth (wrist) is expected to return from the disabled list Tuesday, July 28, against the Miami Marlins. He wrapped up his rehab assignment with Class AAA Syracuse Sunday, July 26, according to a source close to Werth. He went 11-for-30 with two doubles, seven RBI, two walks and two strikeouts in nine games in the minors.

Fantasy Tip: You may want to give Werth ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) at least a few games to work his way back into the lineup before running with him in your daily lineups. He was hitting just .208 (21-for-101) with two home runs and 12 RBI before his injury, and there's no guarantee that he'll hit for a ton of power for the remaining games. Werth's return will likely force Matt den Dekker back to a bench role for the Nats.
