Cardinals | Jhonny Peralta not in lineup

Sun, 30 Aug 2015 11:30:13 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals SS Jhonny Peralta is not in the starting lineup against San Francisco Giants SP Chris Heston Sunday, Aug. 30. INF Greg Garcia will play shortstop and bat eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Remove Peralta ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) from all fantasy lineups. Garcia ($1,700, 3.4% of cap) is hitting just .133 in 15 at-bats this month and is not a great FantasyScore option.

Sun, 16 Aug 2015 11:00:15 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals SS Jhonny Peralta is not in the starting lineup against Miami Marlins SP David Phelps Sunday, Aug. 16. SS Pete Kozma will start in shortstop and is batting eighth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Peralta ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) should return to the lineup in the next game or two. Kozma ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) is hitting only .156 this season and is not a starting option on FantasyScore.

Cardinals | Jhonny Peralta sitting out

Thu, 06 Aug 2015 07:47:43 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals SS Jhonny Peralta is out of the lineup Thursday, Aug. 6, with OF Randal Grichuk taking his customary cleanup spot.

Fantasy Tip: Grichuk ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) has a .339-6-14 line after the All-Star break and looks to be blossoming into a legit threat. He's a solid midrange choice on FantasyScore.

Cardinals | Jhonny Peralta will not start

Sun, 26 Jul 2015 11:06:26 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals SS Jhonny Peralta is not in the starting lineup against Atlanta Braves SP Matt Wisler Sunday, July 26. SS Pete Kozma will start at shortstop and is batting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Peralta ($5,000, 10.0% of cap) likely is receiving a day off and will return to the lineup soon. Kozma ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) should not be a starting option on FantasyScore.

Cardinals | Matt Holliday hitting third in return

Fri, 17 Jul 2015 15:47:57 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals OF Matt Holliday (quadriceps) is hitting third and playing left field in his return to the lineup Friday, July 17, against New York Mets SP Noah Syndergaard. Holliday was hitting .303 with a .417 on-base percentage before he was injured in the first half. SS Jhonny Peralta moves down to cleanup.

Fantasy Tip: Holliday ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) draws a tough matchup in Syndergaard in his first game off the DL to start the second half. Sitting him out tonight in both traditional and daily leagues wouldn't be a bad idea.

Cardinals | Jhonny Peralta, Jason Heyward ready to deliver

Wed, 08 Jul 2015 15:19:16 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals SS Jhonny Peralta and OF Jason Heyward are a combined 18-for-38 in their careers against Chicago Cubs SP Jason Hammel, who they will face Wednesday, July 8. Peralta has homered twice against Hammel.

Fantasy Tip: Both Peralta ($5,000, 10.0% of cap) and Heyward ($4,700, 9.4% of cap) are solid clicks on FantasyScore tonight. Peralta has been a good option all year at shortstop, while Heyward has been heating up, going 33-for-95 (.347) with four home runs and 13 RBI since June 10.

Cardinals | Jhonny Peralta hitting third

Wed, 10 Jun 2015 09:40:17 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals SS Jhonny Peralta is hitting third Wednesday, June 10, against Colorado Rockies SP Chad Bettis.

Fantasy Tip: Expect Jhonny P to be the three-hole hitter for a little while with Matt Holliday (quadriceps) likely out an extended period. Peralta ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) has a .385-2-5 line the last week and has become an upper echelon shortstop on FantasyScore. Matt Carpenter profiles better hitting third with Peralta at cleanup, but the team has struggled to find a reliable two-hole hitter outside of Carp.

Cardinals | Jhonny Peralta hitting well at fifth

Mon, 01 Jun 2015 07:12:26 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals SS Jhonny Peralta is hitting .310 as the fifth-place hitter this season.

Fantasy Tip: With Matt Adams (quadriceps) likely done for the season, Peralta will figure into the cleanup and fifth hole often. He's off to a .310-8-30 start. While the batting average will probably come down a bit, his power production is encouraging and he'll be in plenty of spots to drive in runs. At $4,600 (9.2% of cap), he's producing elite numbers at a midrange price.

Cardinals | Jhonny Peralta jumps into cleanup spot

Wed, 27 May 2015 15:08:25 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals SS Jhonny Peralta is batting cleanup against the Arizona Diamondbacks Wednesday, May 27.

Fantasy Tip: Peralta ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) is having a nice season, and he could take up temporary residence in the cleanup spot with Matt Adams ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) out with a quadriceps injury. It would be a slight boost to his fantasy stock, and Peralta is already a mid-tier shortstop. Currently, he has 23 runs, seven home runs, 25 RBI with a .308/.370/.506 batting average. While an excellent FantasyScore option, Peralta is somewhat pricey for a middle infielder.

Cardinals | Jhonny Peralta with day off

Thu, 14 May 2015 08:49:16 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals SS Jhonny Peralta was a late scratch from the lineup Thursday, May 14, for OF Matt Holliday's (elbow) return.

Fantasy Tip: Peralta was slated to DH, but he is being given the day off instead. Pete Kozma ($1,600, 3.2% of your cap) is in at shortstop, but he has no FantasyScore appeal.
