Detroit Tigers SS Jhonny Peralta is named in the records of Biogenesis owner Tony Bosch, who is under investigation by Major League Baseball for distributing performance-enhancing drugs to baseball players, according to sources familiar with the records. He becomes the fifth client of 12 listed names associated with the ACES agency of Seth and Sam Levinson that are connected to the PED records. Detroit Tigers SS Jhonny Peralta is working with a strength coach this offseason in the Dominican Republic to improve his agility, and he is determined to lose at least 10 pounds. "I want to keep it low," Peralta said. "Feel more lighter. It's good. When I played in Cleveland, that was the weight I was at right now. When I come to Detroit, I never had that (low) weight that I had right now. I was five more pounds. Right now, I'm, like, 218. After the season was over, I was, like, 226." The Tigers have stressed that they want him to improve his range, particularly in the hole.

Detroit Tigers general manager Dave Dombrowski said the team is happy with what SS Jhonny Peralta gives them at shortstop. "We're happy with Peralta," Dombrowski said. "What happens is a lot of times, people talk about getting more athletic with our club. There are very few positions we can get more athletic. That is one of the spots that is often discussed, but we're happy with Jhonny Peralta. When you look at his numbers over the last couple years, we're very happy with him." Detroit has been mentioned as a suitor for free-agent SS Stephen Drew (Athletics), though, and if they were to sign him, Peralta would become expendable.
