Minor league free-agent P Francisco Cruceta has been suspended 100 games by Major League Baseball after he tested positive for a banned performance-enhancing substance. The penalty will take effect if he signs with a major league organization.

The Detroit Free Press reports the Detroit Tigers will call up RP Francisco Cruceta from Triple-A Toledo to take RP Jason Grilli's place on the roster. He may be in uniform as soon as May 1 against the New York Yankees.

John Lowe, of the Detroit Free Press, reports the Detroit Tigers have assigned P Francisco Cruceta to Triple-A Toledo. The team has approximately two weeks to decide whether to put Cruceta on the 25-man roster or put him on waivers in order to keep him in the minors.

John Lowe, of the Detroit Free Press, reports Detroit Tigers P Francisco Cruceta had his visa approved and is able to report to the team's training base. The team will have 30 days to either add him to the 25-man roster or place him on waivers in order to send him down to the minors.

The Detroit News' Tom Gage reports Detroit Tigers RP Francisco Cruceta, who has had visa problems leaving the Dominican Republic, is still not in camp and Tigers manager Jim Leyland isn't losing sleep over it. "I'm not counting on him at all," Leyland said. "I know he's been throwing and is in shape, but I can't make any judgment on him without even seeing him. I'd at least like to shake his hand."
