Tigers | Victor Martinez out Saturday

Sat, 03 Oct 2015 15:07:53 -0700

Detroit Tigers 1B Victor Martinez (quadriceps) is out of the lineup Saturday, Oct. 3, with OF Steven Moya hitting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Moya ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) is just 2-for-15 (.133) on the year and isn't a good FantasyScore option against Erik Johnson.

Tigers | Ian Kinsler, Victor Martinez out

Fri, 02 Oct 2015 15:28:01 -0700

Detroit Tigers 2B Ian Kinsler and 1B Victor Martinez are not in the starting lineup against Chicago White Sox SP Chris Sale Friday, Oct. 2.

Fantasy Tip: Sale ($8,900, 17.8% of cap) presents a low-end matchup for the Tigers, and FantasyScore players cannot start anyone from the Detroit lineup with confidence Friday, especially with Miguel Cabrera ($6,200, 12.4% of cap) limited to pinch-hitting duty for the season.

Tigers | No Victor Martinez against Texas

Wed, 30 Sep 2015 14:31:37 -0700

Detroit Tigers 1B Victor Martinez is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, Sept. 30. OF Tyler Collins draws into the lineup and is batting fifth against Texas Rangers SP Yovani Gallardo Wednesday.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to avoid Martinez ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) in all fantasy formats Wednesday. He has heated up at the dish lately, though, with a .324/.375/.559 slash line over his past 40 plate appearances. FantasyScore players should view Collins ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) as a mid-priced flier and far from a lineup lock Wednesday.

Tigers | Victor Martinez, James McCann out

Tue, 29 Sep 2015 14:12:05 -0700

Detroit Tigers 1B Victor Martinez and C James McCann are not in the lineup against Texas Rangers left-handed SP Cole Hamels Tuesday, Sept. 29. 1B Jefry Marte is starting at first base and batting sixth, while C Bryan Holaday is catching and hitting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Both Marte ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) and Holaday ($1,700, 3.4% of cap) won't give you much of a chance at cashing out on FantasyScore if you gamble on them against Hamels tonight.

Tigers | Victor Martinez leaves game

Mon, 28 Sep 2015 22:10:44 -0700

Detroit Tigers DH Victor Martinez (quadriceps) left the game Monday, Sept. 28, against the Texas Rangers due to a sore left quadriceps, according to the team. He will be re-evaluated Tuesday, Sept. 29.

Fantasy Tip: Martinez ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) should be avoided in FantasyScore until he can officially return and prove his health in a full game without any lingering effects of his injury.

Tigers | Victor Martinez reaches milestone

Wed, 23 Sep 2015 17:18:56 -0700

Detroit Tigers DH Victor Martinez hit his 200th career home run against the Chicago White Sox Wednesday, Sept. 23.

Fantasy Tip: Despite Wednesday's blast, Martinez ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) has shown a disappointing lack of power recently, so FantasyScore owners will probably want to look elsewhere for options at first base. This was his 11th home run of the season and just his second homer since Aug. 8.

Tigers | Victor Martinez out for Game 2

Mon, 21 Sep 2015 13:31:21 -0700

Detroit Tigers 1B Victor Martinez is not in the lineup for Game 2 of the doubleheader against the Chicago White Sox Monday, Sept. 21. 2B Ian Kinsler is serving as the designated hitter and 2B Josh Wilson is starting at second base and hitting eighth against Chicago White Sox SP Erik Johnson.

Fantasy Tip: Kinsler ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) isn't a bad click on FantasyScore in the nightcap. He's hitting .300 (21-for-70) with two home runs and nine RBI in September. Wilson ($1,900, 3.8% of cap), a light-hitting backup infielder, should be ignored everywhere.

Tigers | Victor Martinez heating up

Sun, 20 Sep 2015 06:37:52 -0700

Detroit Tigers 1B Victor Martinez went 2-for-2 with a run, a double, a home run, three RBI and a walk during the Tigers' 6-5 win over the Kansas City Royals Saturday, Sept. 19.

Fantasy Tip: Martinez ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) has been extremely streaky this season, and he currently sports a .342/.372/.474 slash line with two doubles, a home run and six RBI over his past 10 games. Don't rule out the veteran finishing the season strong. He is worth owning in the majority of fantasy leagues, and in the right matchups, he is a solid FantasyScore option.

Tigers | Victor Martinez returns to the lineup

Thu, 10 Sep 2015 14:32:55 -0700

Detroit Tigers C Victor Martinez (illness) is batting fifth as the designated hitter against Cleveland Indians SP Danny Salazar Thursday, Sept. 10.

Fantasy Tip: Martinez ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) hasn't played since Sunday, Sept. 6, and he has been struggling mightily with a .193/.242/.295 slash line since the All-Star break. Add a less than ideal matchup to Martinez's hefty cap hit, and there isn't a lot to like about the veteran at FantasyScore Thursday.

Tigers | Victor Martinez still out against Rays

Wed, 09 Sep 2015 14:33:22 -0700

Detroit Tigers 1B Victor Martinez (illness) is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, Sept. 9. 1B Jefry Marte draws into the lineup and is batting seventh against Tampa Bay Rays SP Jake Odorizzi Wednesday.

Fantasy Tip: Continue to check back for updates on Martinez ($4,800, 9.6% of cap), as he has missed three straight games. Although, he has been a major disappointment of late with a .200/.238/.253 slash line over his past 21 games. Marte checks out as a potential low-priced flier for daily players, but your expectations should be kept in check.
