Former Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim RP Scot Shields is in uniform in camp, but as a guest instructor. "It feels weird, I can tell you that," Shield said. "It's a little different when you're not a player being in here, but it's been fun to be around the guys again."

Free-agent RP Scot Shields (Angels) has yet to resume throwing this offseason but has been working out and is feeling good, according to the Los Angeles Times' Mike DiGiovanna. "I feel really good," Shields said. "It doesn't take me long to get ready for the season. If I do play, I'll have a lot of desire to prove I can still pitch." Shields was leaning toward retirement at the end of last season.

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim RP Scot Shields, the last remaining player from the team's 2002 World Series title, is unlikely to return to the team next season, according to MLB.com's Lyle Spencer. Shields will become a free agent this offseason. "I can go either way," Shields said of the uncertain road ahead. "If I get a good enough offer, I'll look at it. If not, I can go home and be happy with my family, spend a lot more time with my kids. My oldest girl, Kayla, is 8, and my younger girl, Ella, is 5. I have to sit down with my wife and talk about it - which we've done already."
