The Minnesota Twins have already told teams that they are not likely to trade 1B Justin Morneau this summer. They also aren't looking to trade OF Denard Span, but they would be willing to listen to offers on him at some point. The Washington Nationals were interested in Span last year.

Minnesota Twins 1B Justin Morneau hit a two-run home run in a winning effort Thursday, May 17, in his second game back from the disabled list. INF Trevor Plouffe also added a blast in the game. The duo hit back-to-back long balls in the third inning. Morneau has five home runs on the season while Plouffe has three. Morneau drove in three runs in the game.

The Minnesota Twins are likely to activate 1B Justin Morneau (wrist) from the disabled list Wednesday, May 16, after he took live batting practice for the second straight day, ran sprints and took groundballs Tuesday, May 15. "He looked really good and has talked to the trainers about being activated," manager Ron Gardenhire said. "The trainers haven't told me yet, but I have to go out and see and talk to him. But that's the plan unless it changes drastically." 1B Chris Parmelee could be sent down depending on how much the team anticipates Morneau playing at first base.

Updating a previous report, Minnesota Twins 1B Justin Morneau (wrist) said Monday, May 14, that he is progressing. "It's getting better," Morneau said. "Whether (the soreness) will be gone completely, I don't know. I'm hopeful. But as long as I'm able to swing the way I want to swing, as long as it's manageable that's something we can deal with." Morneau is eligible to come off the 15-day disabled list Wednesday, May 16, but no decision has been made on that yet.

Minnesota Twins 1B Justin Morneau (wrist) took live batting practice Monday, May 14, for the first time in two weeks, and he expects to return from the disabled list Wednesday, May 16. Morneau hit off a tee Saturday, May 12, and took flips Sunday, May 13.
