Sun, 05 May 2013 10:06:32 -0700 Minnesota Twins 1B Justin Morneau is in the lineup as the designated hitter against the Cleveland Indians Sunday, May 5. He was originally listed as the first baseman but asked to be moved to DH because he felt some stiffness.
Sat, 27 Apr 2013 09:50:25 -0700 Minnesota Twins DH Justin Morneau is not in the starting lineup Saturday, April 27. C/1B Joe Mauer will start at first base, with OF/C Ryan Doumit starting behind the plate and INF Eduardo Escobar starting at third base.
Wed, 03 Apr 2013 19:58:22 -0700 Minnesota Twins 1B Justin Morneau said Wednesday, April 3, that he doesn't set personal statistical goals before the season, but feels he is still young enough to post big numbers if he can remain healthy. "Anything's possible," Morneau said. "I'm still young enough. I think I proved to myself last year that when I'm healthy I feel like I can contribute, and whatever that means I'm not sure, but hopefully it's somewhere around when I was playing 150, 160 games a year and driving in runs and helping us score runs and helping us win ball games." Fantasy Tip: For the record, Morneau won't be 32 until mid-May, and he did rebound nicely in 2012 with 19 homers and a .773 OPS while playing in 134 games. It was his most production since 2009. He remains a solid fantasy option with plenty of power potential if he can avoid the injury bug.
Sat, 30 Mar 2013 11:16:50 -0700 Minnesota Twins 1B Justin Morneau (back) played in a minor league game Saturday, March 30, and is expected to be able to play on opening day. Fantasy Tip: Unless he suffers a setback in the next few days, it appears like Morneau will be in the starting lineup to start the season. Owners should have him in their starting lineups in all formats.

Fantasy Tip: Unless you hear otherwise this weekend, you should be in the clear to use Morneau in your starting lineup on opening day.
Thu, 28 Mar 2013 15:35:50 -0700 Minnesota Twins 1B Justin Morneau (back) was scratched from the lineup with mild back tightness Thursday, March 28. Fantasy Tip: If Morneau misses any time, Chris Parmelee will likely fill in for him at first base.
Mon, 04 Mar 2013 12:12:59 -0800 Cincinnati Reds 1B Joey Votto (knee) will play for Team Canada in the World Baseball Classic. Votto said he is ready to go. "I was very clear to everyone that I needed the games to make sure my knee was healthy and heading in the right direction," said Votto. "I feel confident in it and confident in my commitment. I feel I can comfortably play. I've never been hurt before, and I wanted a little more of a grace period before the tournament to make sure I'm ready for my primary commitment to the Cincinnati Reds." Votto and Minnesota Twins 1B Justin Morneau are expected to split first base and designated hitter duties.

"I feel prepared coming in, which is nice," said Morneau, who estimated he weighs about eight or nine more pounds than he did at this point last year. "It was good to enjoy the offseason and do what I needed to do. It feels good." Morneau said he's been swinging a bat and he feels good to go.
