Rockies | Justin Morneau out against Padres

Thu, 23 Apr 2015 10:21:58 -0700

Colorado Rockies 1B Justin Morneau is not in the starting lineup Thursday, April 23. 2B Daniel Descalso is starting at first base and hitting sixth in the batting order against San Diego Padres SP Tyson Ross.

Fantasy Tip: Descalso ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) doesn't really tip the offensive scales for FantasyScore owners looking for a cheap infield option. It's best to look elsewhere for your keystone starter Thursday.

Rockies | Justin Morneau out vs. lefty

Fri, 17 Apr 2015 14:40:21 -0700

Colorado Rockies 1B Justin Morneau is not in the starting lineup against the Los Angeles Dodger Friday, April 17. C/1B Wilin Rosario is starting at first base and batting fourth.

Fantasy Tip: Typically, Rosario ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) is a nice daily option against southpaws, but Clayton Kershaw isn't your typical lefty. It would be wise to avoid both Rosario and Morneau in all fantasy formats Friday.

Rockies | Justin Morneau out Friday

Fri, 10 Apr 2015 10:11:17 -0700

Colorado Rockies 1B Justin Morneau is not in the starting lineup against Chicago Cubs left-handed SP Travis Wood Friday, April 10.

Fantasy Tip: In Morneau's place, Wilin Rosario ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) is a pretty attractive FantasyScore piece at the catcher position. Rosario's value in standard leagues takes a hit now that he's basically a utility player, but he's worth a shot for his power at Coors Field Friday against a lefty.

Rockies | Justin Morneau in the lineup

Wed, 08 Apr 2015 22:19:09 -0700

Colorado Rockies 1B Justin Morneau (neck) was in the lineup Wednesday, April 8, against the Milwaukee Brewers one day after leaving the game after an errant throw to the neck.

Fantasy Tip: Morneau was hitless in four at-bats and he has just one hit in 13 at-bats so far this season. Avoid him at $4,400 (or 8.8% of cap) in FantasyScore until he re-discovers his hitting stroke.

Rockies | Justin Morneau talks way back into lineup

Wed, 08 Apr 2015 15:10:11 -0700

Updating a previous report, Colorado Rockies 1B Justin Morneau (neck) took practice swings and talked his way back into the starting lineup Wednesday, April 8.

Fantasy Tip: Morneau ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) makes for a risky daily play, regardless of his personal health promotion. Make sure to avoid Wilin Rosario ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) in FantasyScore contests with the news, too. It is worth keeping tabs on the 33-year-old Morneau, as he has missed significant time over the past six seasons.

Rockies | Justin Morneau sitting Wednesday

Wed, 08 Apr 2015 13:52:57 -0700

Colorado Rockies 1B Justin Morneau (neck) said a throw hit him in the neck Tuesday, April 7, and he is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, April 8.

Fantasy Tip: Morneau's ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) injury doesn't sound serious, so we don't expect him to be out for long. Wilin Rosario ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) moves to first base and will face Milwaukee Brewers starter Wily Peralta. Rosario does have a home run in five career at-bats against Peralta, making him a decent option at FantasyScore.

Rockies | Justin Morneau leaves early

Tue, 07 Apr 2015 23:00:35 -0700

Colorado Rockies 1B Justin Morneau (neck) was hit in the neck by an errant throw in the seventh inning while running the bases Tuesday, April 7, against the Milwaukee Brewers. He was removed for a pinch runner. "With (Morneau's) history, we're always going to be careful," manager Walt Weiss said. "That's why I took him out."

Fantasy Tip: Morneau ($4,400; 8.8% of cap) has had a long history of injuries, including concussions, so FantasyScore owners have to be aware there is a certain risk anytime when using the talented but brittle slugger.
