Sun, 29 Jan 2012 19:32:13 -0800 Boston Red Sox OF Carl Crawford (wrist) is expected to begin the regular season on the 15-day disabled list as he recovers from offseason wrist surgery.
Thu, 19 Jan 2012 16:38:50 -0800 Oakland Athletics OF Josh Reddick (wrist) said he had the same wrist surgery that Boston Red Sox OF Carl Crawford (wrist) underwent this week, and Reddick thinks Crawford will be fine. "I think it was the exact same surgery (cartilage). It's not that tough of a rehab process as long as you're there working out - and we know Carl always works out - he'll be just fine," Reddick said. Reddick had the surgery about eight weeks ago and is expected to be the starting right fielder in Oakland on opening day.
Thu, 19 Jan 2012 14:55:09 -0800 Boston Red Sox general manager Ben Cherington said OF Carl Crawford's (wrist) was fine after the season at the end of last year. It was only until he started to ramp up his offseason workouts that he felt soreness in his left wrist while swinging. An MRI shortly after showed damage to his wrist cartilage, which prompted the arthroscopic surgery.
Wed, 18 Jan 2012 09:01:26 -0800 Boston Red Sox general manager Ben Cherington indicated that OF Carl Crawford's (wrist) surgery was a routine procedure, and Cherington expects Crawford to be the team's left fielder for "the bulk of the season." "It was a basic debridement of some cartilage in his left wrist," said Cherington. "(It's a) relatively routine procedure. We expect Carl to be recovered and hitting at some point during Spring Training. We're not going to put an exact timeline on it." Crawford had soreness in his wrist while hitting early in January.
Tue, 17 Jan 2012 14:37:45 -0800 Boston Red Sox OF Darnell McDonald and SS Mike Aviles could fill in in left field if OF Carl Crawford (wrist) isn't ready for the start of the season.
Tue, 17 Jan 2012 12:57:07 -0800 Updating a previous report, Boston Red Sox OF Carl Crawford (wrist) underwent arthroscopic surgery on his wrist Tuesday, Jan. 17, but he is expected to resume hitting at some point in spring training, according to general manager Ben Cherington.
Tue, 17 Jan 2012 12:40:39 -0800 Boston Red Sox OF Carl Crawford (wrist) underwent surgery that involved a scope on cartilage in his left wrist, and general manager Ben Cherington expects Crawford to return early in the season. Fantasy Tip: Crawford still has a shot to be ready for opening day, but that sounds optimistic. This will only sink his already sunken fantasy baseball stock. Without more info, roto managers should feel comfortable enough with the belief that the procedure won't have long-lasting effects. If that's the case, this development and his disastrous 2011 season could conspire to make the BoSox star available at a fantastic discount.
Thu, 12 Jan 2012 13:06:27 -0800 Former Boston Red Sox general manager Theo Epstein confirmed that owner John Henry was the lone executive that was against signing OF Carl Crawford last offseason.
Thu, 12 Jan 2012 07:25:48 -0800 Chicago Cubs president Theo Epstein said Boston Red Sox owner John Henry was against signing OF Carl Crawford to his seven-year, $142 million deal before the 2011 season. Epstein said Henry was alone in his opinion, with the rest of the organization's decision-makers being on board with the commitment.
Sun, 01 Jan 2012 23:52:58 -0800 Boston Red Sox manager Bobby Valentine plans to meet with OF Carl Crawford and SP Josh Beckett before spring camp begins to address their situations and get on the same page. "There is no, from what I gather, any adversarial relationship with either situation," Valentine said.
