Fifteen modern-day finalists for the Pro Football Hall of Fame were announced Saturday, Jan. 7, and they are joined by two senior nominees. A selection committee in Indianapolis will meet in Indianapolis Feb. 4 to determine the 2012 Hall of Fame class. The Buffalo Bills could be targeting Florida State QB Christian Ponder with their second-round selection in the NFL Draft, according to Joe Buscaglia, of WGR Sports Radio 550. Former WR Andre Reed, who will announce the team's pick live during the draft, tweeted Ponder Thursday, April 21, telling him he was looking forward to calling his name come draft day. Reed deleted his tweet shortly after typing it.

The Associated Press reports St. Louis Rams WR Isaac Bruce caught nine passes for 148 yards during the Week 16 game. Bruce now has eight seasons with 1,000 yards receiving and moved into seventh on the career list for receiving yards. Bruce passed former NFL WR Andre Reed and now has 14,130 yards receiving.

Updating a previous report, Chris Brown, of BuffaloBills.com, reports former Buffalo Bills WR Andre Reed will be named to the team's Wall of Fame Sunday, Oct. 1, when the Bills play the Minnesota Vikings. Over the course of 16 NFL seasons, Reed racked up 951 receptions, 13,198 receiving yards and 87 touchdowns.

The preliminary list of people eligible for induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame has been revealed, according to the Associated Press. Players eligible for the first time include DE Reggie White, QB Warren Moon, QB Troy Aikman, RB Thurman Thomas, WR Andre Reed, and C Dermontti Dawson. The list also includes five former head coaches and 11 contributors, including league commissioner Paul Tagliabue and longtime owners Art Modell and Ralph Wilson.

Former NFL WR Andre Reed, 41, has earned his bachelor's degree, according to the Associated Press. Reed played four years of football at Kutztown University in the early 1980's, but was ten credits shy of graduating when he was drafted by the Buffalo Bills. He completed a general studies degree through independent study from his San Diego-area home, and participated in the school's commencement ceremony Saturday, May 7.

John Tramontana, of BuffaloBills.com, reports former Buffalo Bills WR Andre Reed, who spent 15 seasons with the Bills (1985-1999), will be inducted into the Greater Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame. "It's a great honor to be inducted," the Bills all-time leading receiver said. "It's an accomplishment to be honored for anything you've done in you're career. To join the list of people already inducted is something I'm very proud of." Reed joins former teammates Jim Kelly, Thurman Thomas, Kent Hull, and Steve Tasker as the fifth player to be inducted from the Bills' Super Bowl teams in the early 1990s.

According to the Star-Tribune, Minnesota Vikings WR Cris Carter's 84 receiving yards Sunday gave him 13,165 for his career and moved him past Steve Largent into fifth place on the NFL's all-time list. He needs 32 to pass Andre Reed, who is No. 4.

Associated Press reports free agent WR Andre Reed has scheduled a news conference at the Buffalo Bills headquarters in Orchard Park. A team spokesman didn’t comment on the topic, but Reed is expected to sign a one-day contract with the Bills to retire with the team. RB Thurman Thomas also signed a one-day contract with the Bills in February to retire with the team.

CNN/SI reports the Washington Redskins have re-signed three exclusive-rights free agents: G Derrick Fletcher, DE Derrick Ham and CB David Terrell to undisclosed contracts. They signed WR Winston October. He was very impressive in a tryout for the team during last weekend's mini-camp. The team also waived LB Andre Reed.

The Washington Post reports Washington Redskins DE Bruce Smith plans to wait and see what happens with the coaching situation in Washington before deciding if he'll return to the team next year. WR Andre Reed will likely retire again but said he hasn't made up his mind yet. Reed said he thought the team was going to use him differently when he signed with them and it would be disappointing if this is the end to his career as he'd like to have gone out differently. CB Darrell Green is expected to return for at least one more year. OL Andy Heck said he'd like to return if the team wants him. Both S Mark Carrier and CB Deion Sanders also plan to return.

The Washington Times reports with Washington Redskins WR Andre Reed (hamstring) out, the team may be forced to play cornerback Champ Bailey at WR. WR Albert Connell remains in the doghouse after he caught just one pass for 17 yards against Pittsburgh and also committed a turnover when he didn't protect a pass. James Thrash will start over Connell despite a bruised hip that forced him out briefly against Pittsburgh. However, Thrash won't return kickoffs or punts.

Coach Terry Robiskie said Brad Johnson probably would start if George can't play. WR Andre Reed (pulled hamstring) will miss Sunday's game. CB Deion Sanders (sprained left knee) did not come in for treatment Sunday. DE Ndukwe Kalu (sprained rib cartilage) is day-to-day. WR James Thrash (bruised hip) but is expected to play Sunday.

In other news, the Buffalo News reports RB Thurman Thomas, WR Andre Reed and DL Bruce Smith could all be released during the off-season due to high salary cap figures. The Bills are roughly $12 million over the salary cap for the 2000 NFL season.

The Buffalo News reports WR Eric Moulds has been added to the Buffalo Bills' injury report. He sat out of practice yesterday with a sore back, as did WR Andre Reed (ribs). However, both players are expected to play this weekend. In other news, RB Antowain Smith (turf toe) and OL Robert Hicks (ankle) practiced on a limited basis again yesterday. Hicks says he's playing this weekend, but the team hasn't given him the thumbs-up sign yet. A decision on their status for this weekend could come after practice today, but they're likely game time decisions. RB Jonathan Linton is likely to start at tailback again this week.

The Rochester Democrat-Chronicle reports that the Bills had a 96 percent turnout rate for their two-week voluntary pre-camp. "It's not voluntary," QB Doug Flutie chuckled as he walked off the field yesterday afternoon. "It's be here." As reported earlier, out of 81 players, the only veterans missing are Andre Reed, who is protesting his contract; Bruce Smith, who is golfing in the NFL Cadillac Classic; and Thurman Thomas, who has a personal commitment but has told coach Wade Phillips he'll be there next week. Flutie feels that from a QB point of view the team is ahead of last year as they are now refreshing themselves with their offense and not breaking in two new QBs like last year.
