The Star-Ledger reports the New York Giants will begin looking at WRs later Tuesday. Former Lions WR Herman Moore is due to fly in and, according to his agent Brad Blank, "they're going to kick each other's tires. But I think it could be a good fit for both of them." Blank got the impression that if Moore looks like he is in shape, the job is his. Another named mentioned was WR Sean Dawkins and Bob Glauber adds for Newsday WR Yancey Thigpen may be on the list too. WR Thabiti Davis said Monday the Giants rescinded an offer to him, saying they wanted to sign a veteran.

ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli reports the Atlanta Falcons spoke with free agent WR Yancey Thigpen, who didn't play football in 2001, last week. However, he declined a visit to workout with the team because he was getting married at the time. The team may revisit their interest in him later when training camp begins.

According to the Tennessean, former Tennessee Titans WR Yancey Thigpen would like to play again in 2002. Despite missing all of the 2001 season, agent Jordan Woy said the WR is not retired. He continues to work out and Woy has been in contact with several teams, including the Texans, about next season.

Associated Press reports Pittsburgh Steelers WR Hines Ward, with seven catches on Sunday, broke Yancey Thigpen's team single-season record of 85 catches. Ward has 87 catches on the season now.

Dan Pires, of the New Bedford Standard-Times, has informed KFFL that the New England Patriots have recently worked out free agent WR Yancey Thigpen (Titans). According to Thigpen's representatives, a meeting has taken place but they would not give any indications on the Patriots' level of interest in Thigpen.

The Post Gazette reports the Pittsburgh Steelers are no longer interested in signing free agent WR Yancey Thigpen after examining his medical records.

The Tribune-Review reports the Pittsburgh Steelers have not given up on signing WR Yancey Thigpen. His agent, Jordan Woy, said the Steelers are among a handful of teams interested in Thigpen. Woy said nothing will be finalized until after June 1.

The Tribune-Review reports Pittsburgh Steelers WR Plaxico Burress (wrist surgery) caught soft passes at practice Friday, but he was not involved in the offense vs. defense drills. Coach Bill Cowher said he will try to increase the workload for Burress and QB Kent Graham when the coaching sessions start in mid-May. WR Troy Edwards said he would welcome the signing of free agent WR Yancey Thigpen. The Steelers have not contacted former Steelers and Eagles WR Charles Johnson, an NFL source said.

Ed Bouchette reports for the Post-Gazette the Pittsburgh Steelers visited with an old friend on Thursday as free agent WR Yancey Thigpen (Titans) dropped by. He had a physical and took a flight back home to Charlotte. The Steelers want to see how Thigpen is doing medically before moving forward with him. "I definitely think I can help this team," Thigpen said last night. He owns the Steelers single-season record with 85 receptions in 1995. Thigpen also paid a visit to the Indianapolis Colts last week.

The Tennessean reports several former Tennessee Titans free agents have drawn some interest from around the league, but have yet to sign. WRs Yancey Thigpen and Carl Pickens drew some early interest from the Jets and Colts respectively, but nothing further developed. Agent Jim Steiner said nothing is brewing for FB Lorenzo Neal. Agent Michael Sullivan who represents RB Rodney Thomas said no one has expressed a strong interest in Thomas who is seen as a backup RB. The agent said he thought the Titans might want to re-sign Thomas, but not yet. FS Marcus Robertson has made two visits, Seattle and Oakland, and he has drawn interest from the Bills. Reportedly concern over a leg injury from last season has the Raiders shying away.
