Donatell understands, however, that there is a system in place to prevent a position coach an opportunity for a promotion with another organization. "It's fair because I signed that contract," Donatell said. "I had a choice not to. You look at every year and make that decision."

Donatell said he wants to rotate his linemen in order to keep them as fresh as possible in the second half. Hunt, who had been the inside rusher in the dime for the team's first six games, is also nursing a sore leg. "We want to spread the work around a little bit," Donatell said. "(Hunt) played some on third down (against the Rams) but not much. We just want to spread it around, and that's been a formula that's worked for us."

The team is also hoping Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila can improve at defensive end, although he is still considered a project. If they can't improve the rush they will continue to need to rely on defensive coordinator Ed Donatell's blitzing schemes.
