LB LaVar Arrington said he has a Grade II sprain, or partial tear, in the MCL of his right knee, meaning he easily could miss 2-to-4 weeks. Coach Marty Schottenheimer had no update on the knee injury to CB Donovan Greer, who appeared to suffer a torn ACL on Monday.

The candidates are asking for more money than the Dolphins are willing to pay, and Buckley would like to be a starting corner. No change was reported on the DE Rich Owens front. The Dolphins are interested in signing free agent DL Tyoka Jackson (Bucs) and they are trying to reach his agent to gauge his interest in coming to Miami.

Tue, 20 Mar 2001 18:28:34 -0800

As an update to previous reports, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports free agent LB Cornell Brown (Ravens) visited with the St. Louis Rams on Monday. The team has also visited with CB Donovan Greer (Bills), CB Walt Harris (Bears) and CB Terrance Shaw (Dolphins) in the past week. In other news, the acquisition of LB Jeff Gooch doesn't mean the team has ruled out making a run at free agent LB Darrin Smith (Saints). However, signing Smith would be more difficult now due to salary cap issues. The team is looking at Gooch as if he'll be able to step in and start this year. Defensive tackle and outside linebacker remain the team's top two areas of need, but they're also considering more depth in the secondary.

Dolphins | More On Buckley

Mon, 19 Mar 2001 08:02:09 -0800

As first reported on February 18, CB Terrell Buckley has expressed an interest in returning to the Dolphins. Now, the Miami Herald reports the Dolphins reportedly are interested in him, but he may have to sign a contract at a bargain price. It's unclear if Buckley would sign a contract featuring a veteran-minimum salary, but laden with incentives. Another hold up to any deal could be the fact Buckley has said he wants to start - something he won't be able to do in Miami. The Dolphins are also considering making a contract offer to free agent Donovan Greer (Bills) sometime this week.

Rams | Secondary Talk

Sat, 17 Mar 2001 22:17:25 -0800

The Post Dispatch's Jim Thomas reports four free agent visitors who play in the secondaries of other teams have been impressed by their visits to the St. Louis Rams. They have had visits from CBs Donovan Greer (Buffalo), Walt Harris (Chicago) and Terrance Shaw (Miami) along with S Kim Herring (Baltimore). The Rams have only three cornerbacks under contract, so don't be surprised if a veteran corner is added before the start of training camp to play nickel back and to push CB Dre Bly for a starting job. The best option for the Rams could be Shaw and he has stated he would like very much to sign with St. Louis. The Rams like Herring, but he may be out of their price range.
