Seattle Seahawks assistant offensive line coach Luke Butkus and assistant special teams coach Jeff Ulbrich are both leaving the team to join the college ranks. Butkus will join Illinois as their offensive line coach and Ulbrich will join UCLA as the special teams coach.

Eric Williams, of the Tacoma News Tribune, reports the Seattle Seahawks have hired Luke Butkus as their offensive quality control coach. He will also help out with the team's offensive line.

Larry Mayer, of ChicagoBears.com, reports the Chicago Bears have hired Luke Butkus as their new assistant offensive line coach. Butkus, who is the nephew of former Bears LB Dick Butkus, participated in the club's training camp as an undrafted free agent center in 2002. Butkus had been serving as a graduate assistant at the University of Oregon for the past two seasons.

The Chicago Sun Times reports rookie C Luke Butkus, an undrafted free agent signee of the Chicago Bears, is happy to join the Bears. The Arizona Cardinals had called him during the NFL Draft, but he believes the Bears are a great situation for him. Butkus is the nephew of former NFL great Dick Butkus.
