"People smell blood because he's put some balls on the ground," Kubiak said. "Steve's our guy, and I have a lot of confidence in him. It's our job to help him find a way to hold on to the football. He touches it, and good things happen. But at the same time, you can make five big plays and one turnover can get you beat. Steve understands that."

Texans | Nading being used in several ways Fri, 12 Dec 2008 08:09:01 -0800 Brooke Bentley, of HoustonTexans.com, reports Houston Texans head coach Gary Kubiak said the team has been able to use DL Jesse Nading in several different ways this season. "We do a lot of things with him. He's a very sharp kid. We knew that coming in. We really didn't know what we were going to do with him. Were we going to play him at linebacker? Were we going to play him at defensive end? He's been able to hold his weight. Being the size he is gives him an opportunity to roam around and do those types of things and spy on quarterbacks. It's something he can use to his advantage with his career," Kubiak said.
Texans | Kubiak impressed with Walter Fri, 12 Dec 2008 08:02:43 -0800 Brooke Bentley, of HoustonTexans.com, reports Houston Texans head coach Gary Kubiak said he likes what he is seeing from WR Kevin Walter, who is tied for first in the AFC with eight touchdowns. "We knew Kevin was a fine football player last year. His numbers are going to end up being bigger this year and that's a credit to his work, and probably the attention [WR Andre Johnson] gets and the way we run the ball has a lot to do with that. But Kevin's been a fine player, and as I said the other day, I think the key thing is there's another level for him. I think he's going to only get better," Kubiak said.
