White Sox | Adam LaRoche not guaranteed starting job

Sun, 31 Jan 2016 07:09:51 -0800

Chicago White Sox DH/1B Adam LaRoche will have to earn his job as the team's starting designated hitter in spring training, according to manager Robin Ventura.

Fantasy Tip: LaRoche had an abysmal season at the plate last year, batting just .207 with 12 home runs and 44 RBIs in 429 at-bats while striking out 133 times. However, he could be worth a late-round flier in AL-only and cavernous mixed fantasy leagues due to the improved offensive protection in the White Sox lineup.

White Sox | Adam LaRoche on the block

Tue, 08 Dec 2015 10:27:19 -0800

Chicago White Sox 1B Adam LaRoche is on the trading block, as the White Sox would like to clear some money for a big bat.

Fantasy Tip: The ChiSox are unlikely to find a ripe market for LaRoche after he hit just .207 with 12 homers and 44 RBI last year. If he lands in the right place with guaranteed playing time, he could be worth a late-round flier in deep mixed leagues.

White Sox | Jose Abreu sitting against Detroit

Fri, 02 Oct 2015 15:32:36 -0700

Chicago White Sox 1B Jose Abreu is not in the starting lineup Friday, Oct. 2. 1B Adam LaRoche is starting at first base and batting sixth against Detroit Tigers SP Alfredo Simon Friday.

Fantasy Tip: LaRoche ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) has been relegated to bench duty late in the season, so he checks out a flier for FantasyScore players Friday. However, it is a high-end matchup with Simon ($6,200, 12.4% of cap) allowing 20 runs over his past 25 1/3 innings. Make sure to avoid Abreu ($5,500, 11.0% of cap) in all fantasy formats Friday.

White Sox | No Adam LaRoche against Royals

Thu, 01 Oct 2015 14:24:40 -0700

Chicago White Sox 1B Adam LaRoche is not in the starting lineup against the Kansas City Royals Thursday, Oct. 1.

Fantasy Tip: Another game, another starting lineup without LaRoche ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) in it. The veteran has clearly been leapfrogged on the depth chart, and there is no reason to hold onto LaRoche is seasonal leagues.

White Sox | Adam LaRoche sitting against Royals

Wed, 30 Sep 2015 14:39:09 -0700

Chicago White Sox 1B Adam LaRoche is not in the starting lineup against the Kansas City Royals Wednesday, Sept. 30.

Fantasy Tip: LaRoche ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) is essentially a bench player at this stage, as the White Sox are consistently giving at-bats to others. There is no reason to own him in seasonal formats at this point, and his outlook for the 2016 season is less than favorable.

White Sox | Adam LaRoche, Tyler Flowers out

Tue, 29 Sep 2015 14:31:59 -0700

Chicago White Sox 1B Adam LaRoche and C Tyler Flowers are not in the starting lineup Tuesday, Sept. 29. OF Trayce Thompson is starting in left field and hitting cleanup against Kansas City Royals SP Johnny Cueto, while C Geovany Soto is doing the catching and batting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: The rookie Thompson ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) has intriguing upside but is batting only .214 (15-for-70) with three home runs and nine RBI in September. He's a sleeper pick this evening against Cueto if you're feeling lucky. Soto ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) is hitting .222 (41-for-185) on the year and is even more of a gamble in daily leagues.

White Sox | Four Regulars out for White Sox

Sun, 27 Sep 2015 07:28:21 -0700

Chicago White Sox SS Alexei Ramirez, OF Avisail Garcia, 1B Adam LaRoche and C Tyler Flowers are not in the starting lineup against the New York Yankees Sunday, Sept. 27.

Fantasy Tip: J.B. Shuck ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) draws into the lineup and is batting fifth against New York SP Luis Severino ($7,600, 15.2% of cap), and Shuck could be an off-the-radar outfield option at FantasyScore Sunday. Rob Brantly ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) and Tyler Saladino ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) are nothing more than desperation fliers Sunday.

White Sox | Adam LaRoche returns to lineup

Sat, 26 Sep 2015 10:31:15 -0700

Chicago White Sox DH Adam LaRoche is batting fifth against New York Yankees SP Adam Warren Saturday, Sept. 26. OF Avisail Garcia, who served as the designated hitter Friday, Sept. 25, is not in the starting lineup Saturday.

Fantasy Tip: LaRoche ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) is batting .196 during the month of September and just .191 since the All-Star break. Avoid using him in FantasyScore.

White Sox | Adam LaRoche sitting vs. Yankees

Fri, 25 Sep 2015 13:42:54 -0700

Chicago White Sox 1B Adam LaRoche is not in the starting lineup Friday, Sept. 25. OF Avisail Garcia is serving as the designated hitter and batting fifth against New York Yankees SP CC Sabathia Friday.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to avoid LaRoche ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) in all fantasy formats Friday, and outside of cavernous mixed and AL-only leagues, he isn't worth a roster spot. Garcia ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) owns a .718 OPS against lefties and projects as a low-end outfield option at FanatsyScore Friday.

White Sox | Adam LaRoche back in the lineup

Thu, 24 Sep 2015 12:55:05 -0700

Chicago White Sox 1B Adam LaRoche (knee) is batting fifth as the designated hitter against New York Yankees SP Michael Pineda Thursday, Sept. 24. OF Avisail Garcia is not in the starting lineup Thursday.

Fantasy Tip: LaRoche ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) hasn't played since Sunday, Sept. 13, and he owns an uninspiring .181/.252/.330 since the beginning of August. FantasyScore players cannot target LaRoche with confidence given how deep the player pool is at first base. Garcia ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) is having a disappointing campaign with just 17 doubles, 12 home runs and a .367 slugging percentage.
