White Sox | Chris Sale won't be traded

Mon, 21 Mar 2016 04:49:43 -0700

Chicago White Sox SP Chris Sale will not be dealt by the club despite pointed remarks toward president Ken Williams about the treatment of 1B Adam LaRoche.

Fantasy Tip: It could make for a heated clubhouse if this doesn't cool down, but on the field Sale remains a strong SP1 in most fantasy leagues. Sale won't let this disagreement come between him and making the White Sox better as a team.

White Sox | Adam LaRoche hanging up his cleats

Tue, 15 Mar 2016 11:34:37 -0700

Chicago White Sox 1B Adam LaRoche told the organization he is planning to retire Tuesday, March 15.

Fantasy Tip: LaRoche's retirement projects to ensure full-time at-bats for Avisail Garcia, while opening up more opportunities for Dioner Navarro and Austin Jackson to see playing time. Garcia is a late-round target in deep mixed leagues, whereas Navarro and Jackson should be targeted strictly in cavernous mixed and AL-only formats.

White Sox | A few more days for Adam LaRoche

Wed, 09 Mar 2016 23:35:33 -0800

Updating a previous report, Chicago White Sox DH Adam LaRoche (back) was able to work out Wednesday, March 9, but manager Robin Ventura indicated that the veteran first baseman and designated hitter will likely be sidelined at least a few more days.

Fantasy Tip: LaRoche had a dismal first campaign as the full-time DH on the south side last season, and an injury early in spring training is certainly not what he needs to iron out his problems and get back on track. He is worth a roll of the dice in the later rounds on draft day in AL-only leagues, but if he goes earlier than that good riddance. Let him be someone else's risk.

White Sox | Adam LaRoche still out with back injury

Wed, 09 Mar 2016 16:07:25 -0800

Chicago White Sox 1B Adam LaRoche (back) was still unable to participate in baseball activities Wednesday, March 9, according to manager Robin Ventura.

Fantasy Tip: Entering his age-36 season, and following an atrocious 2015 campaign, LaRoche's fantasy appeal is limited to cavernous mixed and AL-only formats. He hit just 12 home runs through 484 plate appearances with a .207/.293/.340 slash line last year, after all. Stay tuned for updates, but in the majority of fantasy formats, LaRoche is an afterthought.

White Sox | Adam LaRoche back Wednesday

Mon, 07 Mar 2016 22:53:53 -0800

Updating a previous report, Chicago White Sox 1B/DH Adam LaRoche (back) should be able to return to Cactus League spring game action Wednesday, March 9.

Fantasy Tip: LaRoche had a miserable season in 2015 in his first full year as a designated hitter, and he will need to get healthy if he wants to get in shape for a rebound. AL-only fantasy owners will want to grab him in the late rounds and hope for a bounce back.

White Sox | Adam LaRoche back in a few days

Mon, 07 Mar 2016 08:35:30 -0800

Chicago White Sox 1B Adam LaRoche (back) is expected to return to action in a couple of days.

Fantasy Tip: The aging veteran is losing some power, is injury prone and struggles against left-handed pitching. He's strictly an AL-only target at this stage.

White Sox | Adam LaRoche has back spasms

Mon, 07 Mar 2016 07:06:17 -0800

Chicago White Sox 1B Adam LaRoche (back) is currently out with back spasms. General manager Rick Hahn said LaRoche could be used often as the designated hitter this year after hitting only .207 with 12 home runs in 2015.

Fantasy Tip: There's not a ton to like about LaRoche these days. He's 36 with decent power still, but he's not hitting as many fly balls, and his lack of consistent contact is disturbing. Not to mention his struggles against southpaws. Don't look to LaRoche in mixed leagues.

White Sox | Adam LaRoche not guaranteed starting job

Sun, 31 Jan 2016 07:09:51 -0800

Chicago White Sox DH/1B Adam LaRoche will have to earn his job as the team's starting designated hitter in spring training, according to manager Robin Ventura.

Fantasy Tip: LaRoche had an abysmal season at the plate last year, batting just .207 with 12 home runs and 44 RBIs in 429 at-bats while striking out 133 times. However, he could be worth a late-round flier in AL-only and cavernous mixed fantasy leagues due to the improved offensive protection in the White Sox lineup.

White Sox | Adam LaRoche on the block

Tue, 08 Dec 2015 10:27:19 -0800

Chicago White Sox 1B Adam LaRoche is on the trading block, as the White Sox would like to clear some money for a big bat.

Fantasy Tip: The ChiSox are unlikely to find a ripe market for LaRoche after he hit just .207 with 12 homers and 44 RBI last year. If he lands in the right place with guaranteed playing time, he could be worth a late-round flier in deep mixed leagues.

White Sox | Jose Abreu sitting against Detroit

Fri, 02 Oct 2015 15:32:36 -0700

Chicago White Sox 1B Jose Abreu is not in the starting lineup Friday, Oct. 2. 1B Adam LaRoche is starting at first base and batting sixth against Detroit Tigers SP Alfredo Simon Friday.

Fantasy Tip: LaRoche ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) has been relegated to bench duty late in the season, so he checks out a flier for FantasyScore players Friday. However, it is a high-end matchup with Simon ($6,200, 12.4% of cap) allowing 20 runs over his past 25 1/3 innings. Make sure to avoid Abreu ($5,500, 11.0% of cap) in all fantasy formats Friday.
