Miami Dolphins offensive coordinator Dan Henning has agreed with head coach Tony Sparano that it would be best to part ways, a source close to Henning said, reports Armando Salguero, of The Miami Herald.

Miami Dolphins WR Brandon Marshall said Thursday, Dec. 30, that he is unsure whether QB Chad Henne and he can work better together in the future, according to Brian Biggane, of the Palm Beach Post. "We had some opportunities this year to do that and we didn't get it done," Marshall said, "so I guess we have to evaluate what we did this year and see what we can improve on. See if we can become good before we can become great." Marshall also implied that offensive coordinator Dan Henning has been too conservative in his playcalling. "You just have to let it go," Marshall said. "Don't worry about the consequences, just throw it up and see what happens. Let's live and die by it." Marshall said the team should use him the way the Atlanta Falcons utilize WR Roddy White and the Detroit Lions use WR Calvin Johnson. "That's what I'm used to in the past: Guys believing in me," Marshall said. "You make plays like that, you build confidence in each other and you get a snowball effect."

Miami Dolphins consultant Bill Parcells has convinced owner Stephen Ross to retain head coach Tony Sparano, according to NFL Network's Michael Lombardi, reports Barry Jackson, of The Miami Herald. The Dolphins will keep Sparano, but likely will hire a new offensive coordinator to replace Dan Henning. Houston Texans head coach Gary Kubiak could be a potential candidate if he is fired. Former Denver Broncos head coach Josh McDaniels is also a possibility.

Miami Dolphins offensive coordinator Dan Henning said he is not worried about his job security and is only worried about trying to produce the best he can, reports Armando Salguero, of The Miami Herald. "Job security? You understand I've been retired twice. So job security is not something I worry about," Henning said. "I worry about trying to take what we have and doing the best we can with it."

MiamiDolphins.com reports the Miami Dolphins hired Dan Henning as their new offensive coordinator Monday, Feb. 4. Henning was previously the offensive coordinator with the Carolina Panthers from 2002-2006. He also served with the Miami Dolphins from 1979-1980 as the team's quarterbacks and receivers coach. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Henning was head coach of the Atlanta Falcons and the San Diego Chargers in the 1980's and early 90's.

Pat Yasinskas, of the Charlotte Observer, reports the Carolina Panthers will be responsible for the final year's salary of fired offensive coordinator Dan Henning if Henning does not obtain another coaching job this year. Henning's salary is not known, but is believed to be in the mid-six figures.

Pat Yasinskas and Stan Olson, of the Charlotte Observer, report Carolina Panthers WR Keyshawn Johnson remains uncertain on whether he will return for the 2007 season after learning the club has hired Jeff Davidson as their new offensive coordinator. Previously, Johnson remarked he would retire if former offensive coordinator Dan Henning were not retained. Henning was relieved of his duties earlier this year.
