Updating a previous item, the New York Giants signed DT Shaun Rogers to a one-year deal worth $1.005 million, but it is also a split contract to protect the team against injury. Rogers' contract has a $20,000 signing bonus, a $45,000 weight bonus and a base salary of $940,000, but the split lowers his salary to $433,000 if he lands on Injured Reserve. Rogers' base salary counts just $555,000 against the salary cap because of the veteran minimum salary benefit rule.

New York Giants DL Shaun Rogers (calf) is being treated for a blood clot in his left calf after experiencing swelling in his leg after playing in the team's first preseason game last week. He missed practice Sunday, Aug. 12, and Monday, Aug. 13. DT Martin Parker (back) is dealing with a herniated disc in his back that will require surgery, and DT Marvin Austin (back) is also dealing with back issues and will visit with doctors. DE Justin Trattou (ankle, heel) was seen by a doctor and is not expected to return to the field for a couple of weeks.
