Pat Yasinskas reports for the Charlotte Observer the Carolina Panthers took advantage of their BYE week to work out several offensive free agents. Among them: QB Mike Watkins, RBs Basil Mitchell and Jason Corle, WRs Jake Hoffert, Jeff Townsley and Lavell Bailey and offensive linemen Mookie Moore, Scott Kiernan and Toby Champion. The team is scheduled to work out several defensive players on Thursday.

The team's official site reports the Washington Redskins will start G Derrick Fletcher on the offensive line this week in place of G Mookie Moore. Coach Marty Schottenheimer said he told both players the move was not permanent.

The Washington Post reports although Washington Redskins coach Marty Schottenheimer has yet to pick his two starting guards, he said Mookie Moore and Matt Campbell, who have taken most of the snaps with the first team, hold an edge.

The Washington Post reports the Washington Redskins have changed positions for their guards during practice. Mookie Moore is now practicing at left guard and Derrick Fletcher is working at right guard. Reserve OL Matt Campbell continues to work his way back from shoulder surgery.

Paul Woody reports for the Times-Dispatch the Washington Redskins have moved OL Mookie Moore to starting right guard. Mark Fischer and Derrick Fletcher are splitting time as the starting left guard. DT Dan Wilkinson appears to be the Redskins player who has "bulked up" the most during the off-season. He's listed at last year's weight of 313, but Woody said he looks closer to 330.

The Washington Post reports Washington Redskins WR Albert Connell (flu) and PK Scott Bentley (flu) both missed Friday's practice and may not be able to play this weekend. If Connell cannot play, the team would utilize WR Kenny Shedd in the mix and have him active this weekend. RB Stephen Davis (flu) has returned the past two days and is practicing well. He's expected to start this weekend. As previously reported, rookie OL Mookie Moore will replace veteran Andy Heck at left guard this weekend.

The Washington Post reports Washington Redskins OL Keith Sims (ruptured Achilles') will undergo surgery Tuesday morning to repair his injured Achilles' tendon. As reported, Sims is out for the remainder of the season. The team is now considering starting Andy Heck or rookie Mookie Moore in his place at left guard. DL Dana Stubblefield (flu) is expected to practice this week and play this weekend.
