Updating previous reports, AZCardinals.com reports the Arizona Cardinals have announced Jerry Sullivan as the team’s new offensive coordinator. He was promoted from wide receivers coach, agreeing to a three-year contract. “I’m pleased professionally and personally that Jerry Sullivan has decided to become offensive coordinator,” head coach Dave McGinnis said. “The expertise and excellence he has demonstrated throughout his career coaching wide receivers will now be expanded to every facet of our offense.” Financial terms of the deal were undisclosed.

The Arizona Republic reports Arizona Cardinals WRs coach Jerry Sullivan withdrew from consideration for the team's offensive coordinator job. There are other candidates for the job as well. Coach Dave McGinnis spent most of Friday interviewing former Carolina Panthers offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave, and has interviews set up with at least two more coaches at the Senior Bowl in the coming days. Two possible candidates are San Francisco QBs coach Ted Tollner and Kansas City QBs coach Terry Shea.

However, he is reportedly undecided whether he will accept the offer, when it is made to him. He may not be the only one under consideration by coach Dave McGinnis. Sullivan has other options. Cowboys coach Bill Parcells reportedly is interested in hiring him to coach receivers.

The Associated Press reports Arizona Cardinals WR David Boston (knee) sat out practice Wednesday. He underwent an MRI on his right knee. Boston has been bothered by tendinitis periodically since a mini-camp this summer. "It's kind of been on and off," WRs coach Jerry Sullivan said. "I'm not a doctor, but I think he's probably going to have to get something done at the end of the year. It's his patella I think." Results of the MRI weren't expected until Thursday. "I don't want to talk about it," is all Boston would say.

The Arizona Republic reports Arizona Cardinals coach Dave McGinnis is impressed by the speed of some his new WRs including, rookies Jason McAddley and Ezekial "Zeke" Parker and returning WR Bryan Gilmore. This is believed to be the fastest group of receivers the Cardinals have had in years. Putting the speed to work on the field is the next challenge. "That's what Jerry Sullivan is for," said McGinnis, referring to his receivers coach. "That's why we have one of the best receivers coaches in the league here, if not the best."

The Arizona Republic reports the Arizona Cardinals added some much needed speed at WR when they selected WR Jason McAddley of Alabama in the fifth round of the NFL Draft. McAddley played for the Cardinals coaches at the Senior Bowl and is looking forward to working under receivers coach Jerry Sullivan. McAddley runs the 40 in 4.43 seconds. He'll compete with WR Arnold Jackson for the No. 4 WR job and he could be used to return kickoffs too.

The Arizona Republic reports the turnout at the Arizona Cardinals voluntary off-season workouts is good, and most of the team's key offensive players have been there. "We have a lot of guys out there - and some guys who are going to wish they were out there," coach Dave McGinnis said. WR Mar Tay Jenkins is getting a lot of attention from WRs coach Jerry Sullivan. The team needs him to step up and he could even be the No. 3 WR if a move needed to be made with either Franks Sanders or Rob Moore because of the salary cap situation. QBs Jake Plummer, Dave Brown and Chris Greisen have been attending regularly. The Cardinals had an interest in DL Jeremy Staat who signed with Seattle on Tuesday, but McGinnis said although he liked Staat's 6-foot-6, 310-pound size, but the Cardinals did not immediately offer a contract because of concern over a shoulder on which Staat had off-season surgery.

The contracts signed yesterday by four of their exclusive rights free agents, WR Bryan Gilmore, QB Sean Keenan, CB Jordan Younger and RB Clarence Williams, were all one-year, $303,000 deals. As an update to a previous report, the team officially announced the re-signing of long snapper Trey Junkin. The key offensive players begin working with the new offensive coaches shortly. QBs Jake Plummer, Dave Brown and Chris Greisen will do some classroom work with OC Rich Olson and QBs coach Geep Chryst. WRs coach Jerry Sullivan has met with WRs David Boston and Frank Sanders and will meet soon with Rob Moore.

The Sun-Times reports Chicago Bears coach Dick Jauron met with Bills offensive coordinator Joe Pendry on Monday and former Cardinals offensive coordinator Marc Trestman on Tuesday and he will have a formal interview with Bears QBs coach John Shoop later this week in Chicago. Former Browns coach Chris Palmer will interview in Chicago early next week. Palmer is considered the favorite to land the vacant offensive coordinator job. A source said Jauron has reached an agreement with Detroit Lions assistant Jerry Sullivan to fill the Bears opening at WRs coach, and the hiring will be announced when the offensive coordinator is named.

According to Geoff Hobson of the Cincinnati Bengals official site, coach Dick LeBeau is staying busy interviewing offensive coordinator candidates. As expected, he met with Bob Bratkowski at the Senior Bowl on Monday night. He plans to speak with former Steelers offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride on Tuesday and former Lions receivers coach Jerry Sullivan on Wednesday. Later in the week he'll interview former Browns coach Chris Palmer. He is awaiting to see what happens in Arizona to see of Rich Olson or Bruce Arians are still on his list of candidates.

As an update to an earlier story, the Associated Press citing CBS' NFL Today and the Detroit News reports the third assistant coach reportedly fired by the Detroit Lions was WRs coach Jerry Sullivan. Coach Gary Moeller and other Lions officials could not be reached for comment Sunday night.
