Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic, reports for the Sporting News, Arizona Cardinals DL Thomas Burke showed up to mini-camp overweight, but he said he'd be in shape for the next mini-camp in early June. Burke said he gave up dip tobacco for awhile and it caused him to gain weight.

AZCardinals.com reports Arizona Cardinals WR MarTay Jenkins (rib/knee) returned to practice Wednesday, despite practicing through pain with rib and knee injuries. Jenkins said he was feeling much better today, but said he'll continue to receive treatment. LB Rob Fredrickson (knee), G Pete Kendall (foot) and CB Tom Knight (hamstring) also missed practice again Wednesday. Fredrickson and Knight will travel with the team this weekend and appear to be game time decisions while Kendall was able to do some individual work before Wednesday's practice. DL Thomas Burke (neck) practiced on a limited basis Tuesday and Wednesday.

OG Pete Kendall (foot) is unlikely to play after missing practice all week. CB Tom Knight (hamstring) and LB Rob Fredrickson (knee) both missed Friday's practice. DL Thomas Burke (neck) also appears to be a game day decision.

Starting DE Fred Wakefield was forced to leave practice early with a calf injury. McGinnis expects him to be fine. WR Frank Sanders (hamstrings) and DE Thomas Burke (neck) did not participate in practice. McGinnis is hoping Sanders can practice tomorrow.

Kent Somers reports for the Arizona Republic Arizona Cardinals DE Kyle Vanden Bosch will undergo surgery, likely within the week, to repair the damaged MCL in his right knee. Doctors sometimes let torn MCLs heal on their own, but Vanden Bosch said his was completely torn. The recovery time for the non-surgical alternative is the same as it is for surgery, he said, so he elected to have it repaired. He expects the surgery to make his knee more stable. Thomas Burke will replace Vanden Bosch at right end. The team could add more depth by re-signing free agent DE Brad Ottis, released in the team's final cutdown coming out of training camp.

The team's official site reports the Arizona Cardinals received good news at practice today when CB Tom Knight, and DE Thomas Burke were back on the field practicing. WR Frank Sanders was also able to practice. CB Corey Chavous, DT Mao Tosi, and WR Rob Moore remained sidelined with injuries. Chavous suffered a toe injury on a special teams play against the Falcons last Sunday. That toe is still bothering him,” said Head Coach Dave McGinnis. “I talked to Corey today and he said we would try to practice tomorrow, well, we’ll see. His toe is getting better, but it still looks ugly.”

Rookie DT Marcus Bell had an MRI Tuesday on his hyperextended elbow, with results expected today. Coach Dave McGinnis said he hadn't received an update on DE Thomas Burke's hamstring injury. Rookie G Leonard Davis has a slight quadriceps strain, but he should be all right.

Every Cardinal participated in Monday's practice except for DE Thomas Burke, who reported late to work after being confused of the practice starting time. Burke will most likely be fined.

The Arizona Republic reports Arizona Cardinals QB Jake Plummer (shoulder) and WR Rob Moore (knee) were held out of practice on Wednesday. Moore had a muscle strain in an area that connects the hamstring to his right knee. "Jake's shoulder is a little tired, so we were just resting his arm today, and Rob is not going to start doing anything except individual work until the start of next week," said coach Dave McGinnis. C Jason Starkey and DE Thomas Burke sat out practice with stiff necks, but MRIs on both were negative.

The Arizona Repbulic reports Arizona Cardinals FB Joel Makovicka is back practicing and attempting to work his way back into the lineup. Makovicka pulled his hamstring in the first practice of training camp, then reinjured it 15 minutes into his first practice back, sidelining him until Sunday. The bye week should afford the fullback the chance to reach his goal. DE Thomas Burke didn't practice Tuesday because of a stiff neck. The injury is not believed to be serious, but he did have an MRI yesterday afternoon.
