Both were starters last season, but Claiborne is entering his first full season as the middle linebacker and Green his first training camp as a starter. "Moving Chris inside fits him to his best position," defensive coordinator Kurt Schottenheimer said. Brian Williams, Jeff Gooch and Clint Kriewaldt are among a group expected to compete for the other starting linebacker job.

In addition to the previously reported interest and visit with the Detroit Lions, the Indianapolis Star reports agent Rich De Luca said four or five teams are interested in free agent LB Jeff Gooch (Bucs). De Luca said Wednesday afternoon he talked with the Colts earlier in the day and they reaffirmed their interest in Gooch. The agent also said no visit with the Colts has been planned, but one might not be necessary considering coach Tony Dungy is so familiar with Gooch.

They still need to cut about $2 million more off their 2002 cap figure of $71.101 million, but work is well under way to create that savings.
