Former New York Giants head coach Bill Parcells was not among the inductees announced for the National Football League's Class of 2012 for the Hall of Fame. He won two Super Bowls with the Giants, but apparently the 44-member committee struggled with his itinerant career path, according to a person with knowledge of the situation. Parcells was the head coach of four different teams.

Fifteen modern-day finalists for the Pro Football Hall of Fame were announced Saturday, Jan. 7, and they are joined by two senior nominees. A selection committee in Indianapolis will meet in Indianapolis Feb. 4 to determine the 2012 Hall of Fame class. RB Jerome Bettis (Steelers), WR Tim Brown (Raiders), , CB Jack Butler (senior - Steelers), WR Cris Carter (Eagles, Vikings), C Dermontti Dawson (Steelers), owner Edward DeBartolo Jr. (49ers), DL/LB Chris Doleman (Vikings, Falcons, 49ers), LB/DL Kevin Greene (Rams, Steelers, Panthers), DL/LB Charles Haley (49ers, Cowboys), DL Cortez Kennedy (Seahawks), RB Curtis Martin (Patriots, Jets), head coach Bill Parcells (Giants, Patriots, Jets, Cowboys), WR Andre Reed (Bills), OT Willie Roaf (Chiefs), OG Will Shields (Chiefs), OG Dick Stanfel (senior - Lions, Redskins) and CB Aeneas Williams (Cardinals, Rams) are the finalists.

Former New York Jets head coach Bill Parcells does not believe that QB Mark Sanchez is quite ready to carry the load to help dig the team out of their three-game losing streak. "He's a developing player, just like all young quarterbacks, and there's going to be some good and some not-so-good," Parcells said. "Before you can drive a Ford, you have to be able to drive a Cadillac. If they get everything good around him, I think it will go well. Right now, I don't think he can take the team completely on his shoulders."

Dolphins | Bill Parcells regrets passing on Matt Ryan

Former Miami Dolphins team official Bill Parcells said he regrets drafting OT Jake Long over Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan with the first overall pick in 2008, according to NFL.com. "Maybe, we should have (drafted Ryan instead)," Parcells, the Dolphins' former executive vice president of football operations, said. He also said the decision to draft former QB Pat White in the second round of the 2009 draft "violated our principles."

San Francisco 49ers president Jed York plans to contact Miami Dolphins consultant Bill Parcells to ask him for his opinion on the team's vice president of player personnel Trent Baalke, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. York will also ask Parcells his opinion on the team's future. The 49ers interviewed former NFL executive Michael Lombardi Tuesday, Dec. 28, for the general manager position.

Miami Dolphins consultant Bill Parcells said in an upcoming NFL Network documentary about his life that he is ready to give his input to another NFL team, according to Ben Volin, of the Palm Beach Post. "Get me back out there," Parcells says near the end of the NFL Films-produced documentary. "I can do this one more time. That's how I feel." A top Dolphins official declined to comment about Parcells' future, saying only that Parcells is still a member of the organization.

Miami Dolphins consultant Bill Parcells continues to work in that role for the team; however, he is no longer taking part in the day-to-day decisions and activities of the team, according to league sources, reports ESPN's Adam Schefter. Parcells has packed his bags and moved out of the Dolphins' offices. The team knew this move was coming, but didn't realize Parcells' departure would happen so soon. Parcells will likely leave the organization at the end of the season.

Chris Mortensen, of ESPN, reports Miami Dolphins vice president of football operations Bill Parcells loves the idea of being a mentor to Oklahoma State WR Dez Bryant and is close with Bryant's agent, Eugene Parker. However, Mortensen added he is not sure if Parcells will pull the trigger and select Bryant in the NFL Draft.
