Dodgers | Mark Ellis to be sidelined at least six weeks

Updating previous reports, Los Angeles Dodgers 2B Mark Ellis (leg) underwent emergency surgery on his left leg to remove pressure Saturday, May 19. He will remain hospitalized until the middle of this week and is expected to miss at least six weeks. "He was sent to the hospital, and testing showed elevated pressure in several compartments of the lower leg," team trainer Sue Falsone said. "There was trauma to the area where everything kind of swells up, so you have to open up the fascia and basically release that pressure. They will keep an eye on it and most likely close that wound up on Tuesday." Ellis suffered the injury Friday, May 18, when he was upended by St. Louis Cardinals INF Tyler Greene on a straight-on takeout slide during the seventh inning.
