Reds | Brandon Phillips hitting leadoff Friday

Fri, 22 May 2015 11:56:46 -0700

Cincinnati Reds 2B Brandon Phillips is hitting leadoff against Cleveland Indians SP Carlos Carrasco Friday, May 22. SS Zack Cozart drops down a spot into the two-hole.

Fantasy Tip: Phillips ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) is hitting .368 (21-for-57) with a home run and eight RBI in the month of May and hasn't had trouble hitting righties this year (.304/.349/.373) with both of his home runs. Carrasco has good stuff but has allowed right-handers to hit .310 (31-for-100) with two home runs off him this year. Phillips isn't a bad bet at FantasyScore while he's swinging a hot stick, and a move to the top of the lineup could maximize his value.

Reds | Brandon Phillips in two-hole

Wed, 20 May 2015 14:48:01 -0700

Cincinnati Reds 2B Brandon Phillips is hitting second in the batting order against Kansas City Royals SP Jeremy Guthrie Wednesday, May 20.

Fantasy Tip: Phillips ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) has been hot in the month of May (.346/.424/.404) with a home run and seven RBI in 52 at-bats for the Reds. He's also 4-for-6 with a double and home run in his career against Guthrie. Phillips could be a nice value pick in daily games this evening.

Reds | Brandon Phillips returns to lineup

Fri, 15 May 2015 11:29:27 -0700

Cincinnati Reds 2B Brandon Phillips (toe) is in the starting lineup Friday, May 15.

Fantasy Tip: Phillips ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) is back in the lineup after missing the previous two games. He is hitting .385 during May and has recorded five RBI and five stolen bases in that span. Owners on FantasyScore could consider using Phillips in their lineups.

Reds | Brandon Phillips remains out

Thu, 14 May 2015 12:30:11 -0700

Cincinnati Reds 2B Brandon Phillips (toe) remains out of the starting lineup Thursday, May 14. 2B Skip Schumaker is starting at the keystone and hitting eighth in the batting order against San Francisco Giants SP Tim Lincecum.

Fantasy Tip: Schumaker ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) has seven hits in 32 at-bats this season as a bench player for Cincy, so he should be ignored at FantasyScore tonight.

Reds | Brandon Phillips not playing

Wed, 13 May 2015 13:35:12 -0700

Cincinnati Reds 2B Brandon Phillips (toe) is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, May 13, after injuring his toe Tuesday, May 12. OF Kris Negron is starting at the keystone and hitting seventh in the batting order against Atlanta Braves SP Eric Stults.

Fantasy Tip: Negron ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) has almost zero offensive upside to speak of. Avoid him at FantasyScore.

Reds | Brandon Phillips leaves game

Tue, 12 May 2015 22:38:35 -0700

Cincinnati Reds 2B Brandon Phillips (toe) left the game Tuesday, May 12, against the Atlanta Braves in the eighth inning due to a sore big left toe.

Fantasy Tip: If Phillips cannot play, Skip Schumaker ($1,600; 3.2% of cap) is likely to fill in at second base and he could be a solid low-end FantasyScore option.

Reds | Brandon Phillips returns vs. Braves

Fri, 01 May 2015 12:56:32 -0700

Cincinnati Reds 2B Brandon Phillips (illness) is starting at second base and hitting sixth against the Atlanta Braves Friday, May 1.

Fantasy Tip: Phillips ($2,300, 4.6% of cap) was a late scratch because of an illness Thursday, April 30, but FantasyScore players could have a nice target on their hands with him. Mike Foltynewicz is starting his first career game against the Reds Friday, and Phillips is on a nice 20-for-63 run over his last 15 games. Phillips is cheap, too.

Reds | Brandon Phillips a late scratch

Thu, 30 Apr 2015 14:54:30 -0700

Cincinnati Reds 2B Brandon Phillips (illness) was a late scratch from the lineup against the Atlanta Braves Thursday, April 30. 2B Skip Schumaker will start at second base instead.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to remove Phillips ($2,300, 4.6% of cap) from your lineups Thursday, and don't expect him to miss more than a game or two. Schumaker ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) is 3-for-17 to start the season, so FantasyScore players should aim higher Thursday.

Reds | Brandon Phillips posts first XBH

Mon, 27 Apr 2015 22:54:42 -0700

Cincinnati Reds 2B Brandon Phillips posted his first extra-base hit of the season Monday, April 27, against the Milwaukee Brewers. He had an RBI double in the sixth inning after posting 18 singles in his first 18 hits this season.

Fantasy Tip: Phillips ($2,300; 4.6% of cap) is still a solid FantasyScore value despite the lack of XBH, as he is hitting .a respect .264 overall with eight RBIs.

Reds | Cincy switches up lineup Monday

Mon, 27 Apr 2015 16:03:15 -0700

Cincinnati Reds SS Zack Cozart, who is hitting .303 on the season, was moved up to the second spot in the batting order Monday, April 27, with 2B Brandon Phillips dropping to sixth. 1B Joey Votto is now hitting third, and 3B Todd Frazier is in the cleanup spot.

Fantasy Tip: The most notable move is for Cozart ($2,300, 4.6% of cap) jumping up to the top of the lineup. While facing a tough matchup in the improving Jimmy Nelson of the Milwaukee Brewers Monday night, the two-hole boosts Cozart's FantasyScore value at shortstop.
