White Sox | Bad news for Orlando Hudson

Sun, 24 Jun 2012 20:47:24 -0700

The Chicago White Sox acquired 3B Kevin Youkilis from the Boston Red Sox Sunday, June 24, and that likely spells the end of 2B Orlando Hudson at the hot corner. "I'm not the best third baseman over there, plus I'm not swinging the bat well, so definitely I'd make the same trade," Hudson said. The veteran Hudson will now be used in a utility role along with 2B Eduardo Escobar, according to manager Robin Ventura.

Updating a previous report, Chicago White Sox 3B Brent Morel (back) is eligible to come off the 15-day disabled list Saturday, June 2, but it is uncertain if he will do so. Manager Robin Ventura said Wednesday, May 30, that Morel needs to show no limitations from a lumbar back strain which made him vulnerable against certain pitches. Plus, the play of 2B Orlando Hudson at third base allows the team to make sure Morel is healed 100 percent.
