Boston Red Sox SP Aaron Cook (knee) isn't fully healed from a spike wound in his knee, and he won't be allowed to pitch until it's fully healed and he's had his stitches removed.

Boston Red Sox SP Aaron Cook (knee), who started one game and landed on the disabled list with a deep cut in his left knee, is running again and threw in the bullpen before the game. He is getting close to a rehab assignment.

Boston Red Sox SP Aaron Cook (leg) is scheduled to have his stitches removed Saturday, May 19. He was able to sprint for the first time since hitting the 15-day disabled list. The next step in his rehab is still uncertain, however, according to Cook.

The Boston Red Sox placed SP Aaron Cook (knee) on the 15-day disabled list with a left knee laceration Sunday, May 6, and activated SP Andrew Miller (hamstring) from the disabled list in a corresponding move.

Boston Red Sox SP Aaron Cook (knee) was pounded in his team debut Saturday, May 5, against the Baltimore Orioles. He allowed seven runs and eight hits in just 2 2/3 innings, and he required 11 stitches to close a gash on his left knee. He suffered the injury when covering home plate. Cook had been 3-0 with a 1.89 ERA in five starts with Triple-A Pawtucket. "I felt good the first two innings (before getting spiked)," Cook said. "To be honest, I kind of felt like my leg was a little number (after getting spiked). I was throwing all arm and that caused the ball to be flat and up in the zone. It was one of those days."

The Boston Red Sox recalled SP Aaron Cook from the minors Thursday, May 3, and moved OF Carl Crawford (elbow, wrist) to the 60-day disabled list in a corresponding move.
