Mon, 06 May 2013 11:58:58 -0700 Chicago White Sox SP Jake Peavy (back) threw a six-minute bullpen session Sunday, May 5, and he is expecting to make his next start against the New York Mets Wednesday, May 8. He also took part in fielding drills Sunday to test out his back. Fantasy Tip: If Peavy winds up having a setback and missing his third straight start, you should fully expect the White Sox to place him on the disabled list. For now, though, expect to have him back against the Mets Wednesday.
Sun, 05 May 2013 20:39:52 -0700 Chicago White Sox SP Jake Peavy (back) could still land on the 15-day disabled list, according to manager Robin Ventura, if Peavy's back issues continue to linger. "It's a possibility," Ventura said Sunday, May 5. "We're kind of going by today and (Monday) on how he feels. He's getting better, but I don't know if it's enough to expect him to go out and pitch seven or eight innings. You wait it out and see how he feels." Fantasy Tip: Peavy tried to play catch Saturday, but felt a grabbing pain in his side. That's not a good sign for the upcoming week. If you're a fantasy owner who has a healthier alternative, use him and reserve Peavy.
Sun, 05 May 2013 09:39:39 -0700 Chicago White Sox SP Chris Sale will start against the Kansas City Royals Monday, May 6, in place of injured SP Jake Peavy (back). Sale was originally scheduled to pitch against the New York Mets Tuesday, May 7, but SP Hector Santiago will instead pitch on four days' rest. Fantasy Tip: There is a possibility that Peavy could pitch against the Mets Wednesday, May 8, but the team has not ruled out placing him on the disabled list.
Sat, 04 May 2013 19:42:55 -0700 Updating a previous report, Chicago White Sox SP Jake Peavy (back) has been ruled out for the start Monday, May 6, for the make-up game against the Kansas City Royals.
Fri, 03 May 2013 13:40:12 -0700 Chicago White Sox SP Jake Peavy (back) is feeling better Friday, May 3, and is a possibility to start Monday, May 6.
Thu, 02 May 2013 13:05:40 -0700 Chicago White Sox SP Jake Peavy (back) is tentatively scheduled to start against the New York Mets next week. Fantasy Tip: This is far from set in stone, but it indicates that the White Sox don't think Peavy's back spasms should cause him to miss more than one start. Keep tabs on how he recovers this weekend.
Thu, 02 May 2013 12:09:02 -0700 Chicago White Sox SP Jake Peavy (back) has been scratched from his start against the Texas Rangers Thursday, May 2, due to back spasms. Fantasy Tip: Peavy has been dinged up in the past several seasons, but it's unknown if he'll need a disabled list stint for his back spasms. Hector Santiago is taking Peavy's spot, and he'll be on regular rest after replacing Gavin Floyd (elbow) in the rotation last weekend. Santiago is a decent target in mixed leagues, but his matchup against the Rangers tonight might not be the best time to run him out there.
Sat, 20 Apr 2013 20:33:24 -0700 Chicago White Sox SP Jake Peavy allowed one earned run, six hits and four walks while striking out nine over seven innings in a no-decision Saturday, April 20, against the Minnesota Twins. The run support was just not there. "I would rather it be me than (SP Jose Quintana) or (SP Chris Sale) or somebody who has not been through it," Peavy said. "I have really pitched my whole career in tight ballgames." Fantasy Tip: Peavy continues to be a must-start fantasy option in all leagues, and the most important thing is he continues to look healthy. Over the past two seasons against the Minnesota Twins he has a 1.64 ERA in five starts.
Mon, 15 Apr 2013 00:59:39 -0700 Chicago White Sox SP Jake Peavy struck out 11 batters Sunday, April 14, in a 3-1 win over the Cleveland Indians. The win prevented Chicago from starting with an 0-6 road record for the first time since 1968. He held the Indians to five hits overall with no walks.
Wed, 27 Mar 2013 13:13:49 -0700 Chicago White Sox SP Jake Peavy has seen a slight uptick in his velocity this spring, and he has gotten up to 94 mph in camp. He averaged just 90.7 mph on his fastball last year compared to 93.9 in 2007 when he was with the San Diego Padres. Peavy is now two years removed from his major surgery in July of 2010. Fantasy Tip: You can still get Peavy relatively cheap this year after he bounced back in 2012, and the increased velocity is something that gives us confidence that he can repeat another successful season.
