Thu, 25 Jul 2002 17:56:22 -0700 DetroitLions.com reports Detroit Lions FB Brock Olivo is retiring from the NFL. "I had a lengthy discussion with him yesterday," coach Marty Mornhinweg said. "He came to a final thought process that he didn't want to retire, but he was a little frustrated with some of the minor, nagging injuries he has been through the last three-to-four years in regards to hamstrings, a tear to the plantar fascia. He just cannot run like he used to."
Tue, 25 Sep 2001 12:14:19 -0700 The Detroit Lions official site reports FB Brock Olivo (foot) suffered a strained foot early in the first quarter. He did not return. DT Kelvin Pritchett left the game with a sprained left knee and did not return. Both will be reevaluated tomorrow when the team returns to practice.
Sun, 26 Aug 2001 23:15:56 -0700 The Free Press reports Detroit Lions WR Herman Moore (shoulder) and TE David Sloan (broken hand) are expected to play Thursday night in the final pre-season game against Tennessee. WR Germane Crowell (knee) probably won't play until the regular season. RB Amp Lee may finally see some action. He was a late scratch last week when he said his injured hamstring wasn't ready. Lee will spend time this week with the hamstring specialists who assisted FB Brock Olivo earlier in training camp.
Mon, 13 Aug 2001 09:08:08 -0700 Tom Kowalski reports for mlive.com Detroit Lions G Stockar McDougle (groin) remained sidelined but could return to practice later in the week. FB Brock Olivo returned to practice after missing a week with a hamstring injury.
Sun, 05 Aug 2001 15:32:21 -0700 The team's official site reports the Detroit Lions had several players sit out practice again today. OT Aaron Gibson was sent to Detroit to get an injection from team doctors for tendinitis in his right shoulder. FB Brock Olivo is in Canada meeting with doctors about his injured hamstring. He is expected to visit with his doctors for three days before returning to camp. WR Herman Moore was back on the practice field today participating in a limited number of team drills. LB Allen Aldridge (neck strain) returned to practice. OL Stockar McDougle (groin) was at practice, but sat out team drills.
Sat, 04 Aug 2001 19:33:43 -0700 DetroitLions.com reports OTs Aaron Gibson (tendinitis in his right shoulder) and Stockar McDougle (groin pull) were held out of the team's afternoon scrimmage. Neither injury is expected to be serious. FB Brock Olivo was held out of both practice session today due to a hamstring pull. LB Scott Kowalkowski was held out of the morning practice session for rest. WR Germane Crowell (kneecap swelling) worked on his conditioning during morning practice and he did not participate in the team's afternoon scrimmage.
Mon, 12 Mar 2001 18:20:28 -0800 DetroitLions.com reports the Detroit Lions have signed free agent RB Amp Lee, who last played for the Philadelphia Eagles last year. The Lions have also officially signed OL Brenden Stai and special teamer Brock Olivo.
Sat, 03 Mar 2001 01:46:51 -0800 In addition to the previously reported visits by free agent QB Jim Harbaugh (San Diego), G Brenden Stai (Jacksonville) and TE/long snapper Bradford Banta (Jets), the Free Press reports the Lions are expected to visit with G Tre Johnson (Washington) on Monday. They also are expected to have visits with G Pete Kendall (Seattle) and C Casey Wiegmann, who was with the Bears for four seasons. The team has reached a tentative agreement on a contract with special teams player Brock Olivo. The Lions have not given up on re-signing G Jeff Hartings and reportedly they called his agent twice on Friday.
Fri, 02 Mar 2001 01:58:55 -0800 According to Curt Sylvester of the Free Press, the Detroit Lions will probably not pursue QB Doug Flutie. He wants to be a starter and likely will demand a starter's pay. Sources close to C Mike Compton said he told agent Vern Sharbaugh his Lions days are over. He reportedly is interested in playing in Carolina, Jacksonville or Washington. The team tendered offers to three restricted free agents, DB Lamar Campbell, C Eric Beverly and G Kerlin Blaise. The team wants to re-sign G Tony Semple and special-teams player Brock Olivo. Unrestricted free agents, RB Mario Bates, OT Barrett Brooks, QB Stoney Case and CB Marquis Walker probably won't be re-signed.
Wed, 22 Dec 1999 22:28:44 -0800 The Detroit Lions have placed OL Ray Roberts and FB Brock Olivo on injured reserve and signed FB Travis Reece and OL Paul Janus to their active roster from their practice squad. The Lions also added LB Scott Fields to their practice squad.
